I’ve been thinking about home lately, not as a place we live in, but as a feeling we recognise.

Why do some places immediately feel familiar?
Why can a single object make a room feel more like ours?
And why do some spaces look beautiful, but never quite feel like home?

Maybe home has less to do with what we see and more to do with what we experience.

My favourite kind of room will probably always be the one with too many books.

I love knowing that I can reach for a book at any moment and suddenly find myself somewhere else learning about something I knew nothing about five minutes before.

I’ve been particularly drawn to history and biographies. I love learning how people thought, how they lived, what they believed, what they valued, and how they saw the world. Getting to know their stories and perspectives feels incredibly enriching to me.

One of my favourite books is about the Medici family. I bought the next one almost immediately, but I’ve deliberately left it unread. I’m saving it for just before my trip to Florence. I want their world to be fresh in my mind when I arrive so that the places, buildings and art I’ll encounter feel even more alive.

How I would love to spend just one day in another era..
