This week has been National Volunteer Week — but the truth is, what our volunteers do isn’t something we think about just once a year.

Behind every ride, every event, and every opportunity we create for our athletes, there’s a group of people giving their time, energy, and care to make it all happen.

From trail maintenance and race day support, to planning, organizing, and the countless behind-the-scenes hours that keep everything running — your impact is felt everywhere.

You help shape this community into what it is, and what it continues to become. And we don’t take that for granted.

Thank you for everything you do. 💙

We’re incredibly proud to introduce our 2026 Shredders Devo Team. 🚵‍♀️🔥

Representing the highest level of competitive programming within our club, the Devo Team is built for athletes with big goals — those striving to compete on national, international, and World Cup stages.

Each year, athletes apply for the opportunity to be part of this program, and selections are made based on commitment, drive, and alignment with the values that define the Shredders.

This year, we are humbled and excited to double the size of our team — welcoming 12 athletes to the 2026 Devo roster:
🔥 Charlotte Caners, U17 G
🔥 Anna Christensen, U17 G
🔥 Sam Chora, Jn. Men
🔥 Grayson Jewiss, Jn. Men
🔥 Clare Hauber, Jn. Women
🔥 Alexa Haviland, Jn. Women
🔥 Asher Bensimon, Jn. Men
🔥 Blake Davis, Jn. Men
🔥 Finn Cureton, Jn. Men
🔥 Leo Chicoine, Elite Men
🔥 Alex McCabe, Elite Men
🔥 Dylan Kerr, Elite Men

This group represents not only a high level of performance, but a shared passion for growth, resilience, and supporting one another along the way.

We’re also proud to recognize our 2026 Devo Bursary recipients:
Clare Hauber, Alexa Haviland, Leo Chicoine, and Dylan Kerr. This bursary supports our competitive athletes actively pursuing podiums at the provincial, national, and international level — a reflection of their commitment, work ethic, and drive to compete at the highest level.

More to come soon — including the launch of our new website, where you can learn more about each of these athletes.

We can’t wait to see what this team accomplishes this season.

Every off-season, we make it a priority to keep the momentum going — and this winter was no exception. 🚵‍♀️❄️☀️

From regular indoor training sessions each week, to destination riding in Malaga and Victoria, to fat bike days, California miles, and showing up for our community at events like the SHErides Summit — our Race and Devo athletes have been putting in the work all winter long.

Different locations, different conditions, same goal: keep building.

Whether it was chasing dry trails, or grinding through winter miles at home, this group showed consistency, commitment, and a deep love for the sport. Now, with race season just around the corner, it’s time to bring it all together.

Let’s go!💥

Big miles, big climbs, and a whole lot of time on the bike. 🚵‍♀️

Over March Break, our Race and Devo teams headed south for 9 days of spring training, putting in the work as the upcoming season quickly approaches.

With mostly great weather (minus one very wet ride), the group logged plenty of miles and elevation while sharpening their technical skills on terrain very different from what we see at home. From long climbing days to challenging technical features, it was the perfect environment to push limits and build confidence on the bike.

Opportunities like this are invaluable preparation as we look ahead to the upcoming season, while also helping our athletes continue developing the skills that make them stronger riders overall.

Most importantly, it was an awesome week of riding, learning, and building momentum together as a team.

Safe to say the legs are awake and we’re excited for what’s ahead! 🔥

Season opener in the books! 💥

Our Race and Devo teams are currently down in Brevard for a training camp. Alexa, Clare, Finn, Blake, Grayson, Leo, Alex (x2), and Iain kicked things off with some early-season racing at this weekend. It was a great opportunity to shake out the legs, test the fitness, and get back into race mode. Top ten results:

Saturday – XCC
Junior Women 17–18: Alexa🥇| Clare 4th

Sunday – XCO
Junior Women 17–18: Clare🥉
Elite Men: Leo 9th

Sunday brought a few setbacks, including a tough mechanical for Alexa early in the race that meant a long run to the tech zone.😅

All in all, a solid start to the year and an awesome way to kick off an incredible week of training in Brevard. The work continues! 🚵‍♀️💪

Today is International Women’s Day — a moment to celebrate the incredible women who ride, lead, support, and inspire within our community. 💜

At The Durham Shredders, our commitment to gender equity isn’t limited to just one day - it’s at the core of everything we do.

Every ride, every program, and every opportunity we create is rooted in the belief that women and girls deserve to be seen, supported, and celebrated in sport. We strive to uplift their voices, shine a spotlight on their achievements, and help inspire them to see just how powerful their potential can be.

Today and every day, we ride together. 💜🚴‍♀️
