When Bangladesh used to rarely win matches during 2000s, one name was always on the headlines,โ "Mohammed Ashraful." Ashraful was seen as the first superstar of Bangladesh Cricket. Loved by fans for his fearless & innovative approach, he was called "Ashar Ful" which meant Flower of Hope. But there was a problem, no matter how talented Ashraful was, he was quite inconsistent throughout his career. His batting average throughout all formats never reached over 25. Eventually his career was ended in a fixing scandal.
Few Years later, a similar kind of batter emerged in Bangladesh Cricket. An introverted yet highly talented wicketkeeper - batter called Litton Kumer Das. He made his Test debut against India & played some marvellous shots in that match, narrowly missing out on a fifty. After that Litton kept coming & left out of the team, eventually settling in 2018. Since then, Litton became the T20I captain, led the side in Test & ODI's occasionally, played some fantastic knocks. But in the meantime, Litton eventually became the modern version of Ashraful, elegant yet so much inconsistent.
When Bangladesh recently toured Australia for a Test series after 23 years, there were high hopes on Litton's shoulders to carry the middle order but he failed miserably. Scoring 3 ducks in 3 innings. Eventually finishing the series with 0 runs. Bangladesh fans even after 11 years of Litton's arrival in international cricket still waiting for some consistency from him.
