After finding out that India is going to send their main T20I team, BCB also decided to send their main team. But that backfired massively as Bangladesh failed to win any medal in this edition of Asian Games cricket. It also marks the first time that Bangladesh failed to win any medal in men's cricket after winning Gold in 2010 & Bronze in 2014 & 2022.

Captain Litton & his troops looked out of touch in both matches they played in. Failure in T20I events continues after failing to reach Asia Cup Final back in 2025 despite being in a good position. Many thought Bangladesh opting to stay out of the T20 WC was a big opportunity miss for the players to showcase their skills. Asian Games could've been a great platform to prove this point but the players failed to make any statement.

So, the fixtures for 2027 Cricket World Cup has been announced. Bangladesh will play their first match of the tournament in Namibia's FNB Namibia Cricket Ground against England. So naturally the question arises, how is this ground ?

Recently Namibia hosted South Africa here for an ODI series where South Africa scored 330+ in two of the matches they batted first. This gives a clear message that this is a high scoring ground. First powerplay can set the tone for a big score. But here's a catch, in the middle overs spinners seem to be dominate more than pacers. This can slow the flow of the batting team.

So, if Bangladesh wants to do well here, they need to take quality spinners in their squad. With the firepower England have, it'll be quite hard to keep them quiet.

After his exploits in domestic cricket & Top End T20 Series in Australia where he was the highest wicket taker with 23 wickets, MD Rubel has been signed by NPL franchise Pokhara Avengers where he will play alongside fellow countryman Shakib Al Hasan.

This is a huge opportunity for Rubel to showcase his skills in a foreign league. Rubel confirmed his signing in an interview with Star Play.

Akbar Ali, Ariful Islam & Jishan Alam - All 3 of them have been signed by Nepal Premier League franchises for the upcoming season. This is a huge opportunity for these uncapped players to get exposure in abroad before their national team debut as they can showcase their skills.

Usually, we don't see uncapped Bangladeshi cricketers getting signed by foreign league franchises at all !

While there can be debate whether this league can be beneficial for the players or not, I believe exposure matters. So, the players should definitely grab this opportunity. Over the years, we saw big names coming in Nepal. This will also help our youngsters to improve their game.

This is a knock of Virat Kohli from 2010 Tri Series match against Sri Lanka. Kohli made 82 in that match.

This is the image when Kohli crossed the fifty mark. Look at the wagon wheel, shots all round the field. Maintained a healthy strike rate with just 1 boundary.

Mind you, this is before the all fit Virat Kohli !

According to Dhaka Post, team management wants Amite Hasan as an opener for future. This idea came because of the lack of quality openers in domestic and int'l cricket.

Team management has instructed Amite to take preparation in the upcoming NCL Longer Version. As a result, Amite will be seen opening this time. But there's a different scenario, if Amite fails in opening, he will return to his natural number 4 position.

Amite Hasan
