Dhaka, May 10, 2025 – The ‘Rise and Resist: Self-Defence Workshop for Girls’ at the Dhaka University Gymnasium, organized in collaboration with the University of Dhaka Dhaka University Gymnasium and Legacy MMA Gym . Through excruciatingly severe sweltering heat of almost 41 degrees, the girls of Dhaka university stuck diligently throughout the workshop. Probably one of the biggest Self Defence workshops ever conducted up to date, with a 110 women showing up, it was part of a broader initiative to promote safety, confidence, resilience & Self belief among many young women in the university community.
Professor Sayema Haque Bidisha, Honourable Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) of the University of Dhaka, graced the event as the Chief Guest, highlighting the university’s commitment to empowering young women through practical skills.
The Honourable Associate Professor and Proctor of the University of Dhaka, Shehreen Amin Monami Lecturer and Assistant Proctor at the University of Dhaka, as well as Deputy Director of Dhaka university Gymnasium all were present who emphasized the significance of self-defence education in the current social context.
Present in the workshop was our amazingly resilient and dedicated team of professionals of the Legacy mma Team. The Team consisted of 5 female instructors and 9 male instructors a 14 person team. The Legacy family is indebted to all of you and thank you for showing so much love, passion and support towards showing this cause. Every single person here voluntered by themselves for a greater cause and worked tirelessly despite their busy schedules to make it happen. Thank you to each and everyone of you for upholding the standards of martial arts as to how it should have been.
Here is to growing together, bringing mixed martial arts, Muaythai and empowerment through Self Defence.
