After yesterday’s match, Messi's blind followers are back at it again, claiming Ronaldo is a "burden" to Portugal, along with all kinds of nonsense.
I honestly don’t know how many Portugal matches these guys even watch before talking. If they actually understood football or followed the games, they wouldn't be calling Ronaldo a burden for Portugal.
Let's look at the facts from Portugal's last 10 matches:
Ronaldo played in 7 out of those 10 games and scored 6 goals.
In second place, Bruno Fernandes scored 4 goals in 10 matches.
João Neves has 3.
Moreover, Cristiano Ronaldo was the top scorer in Nations League A. Across the entire Nations League, he was the second-highest scorer overall, trailing only Viktor Gyökeres. Elite players like Haaland, Mbappé, and Harry Kane were all behind him in the exact same tournament.
On top of that, Portugal still has to rely on him as a striker because Gonçalo Ramos is not a full 90-minute player. Ramos is perfect as a super-sub, but not as a starter.
While actual Portugal fans have no complaints and are perfectly satisfied with his performance, the problem is these over-smart Messi fans who keep pushing the narrative that Ronaldo is a burden.
Ronaldo is a striker now, not a winger anymore whose overall rating stays fine even without scoring. A striker’s primary job is to score goals, and that is exactly what Ronaldo is doing.
So, instead of foaming at the mouth trying to prove Ronaldo doesn’t fit in Portugal, you all should focus on your own team and your players’ performance, especially penalties.
