লাঠিখেলার গোড়াপত্তন হয় ১৮'শ শতাব্দিতে লাঠিয়ালদের রাজধানী দক্ষিণ বঙ্গের প্রবেশদ্বার মাগুরা জেলা সদরের আলোকদিয়া-পুখুরিয়া গ্রামে। ক্ষণজন্মা পুরুষ সড়কিরাজ ওস্তাদ আব্দুল সরদারের হাতে আঠারো শতাব্দিতে বঙ্গদেশে লাঠিখেলার পরিপূর্ণতা পায়। ওস্তাদ আব্দুল সর্রদারের ৪০ হাজার শীষ্য বাংলাদেশের বিভিন্ন জেলায় ছড়িয়ে ছিল। সে সকল শীষ্যদের পরবর্তী প্রজন্ম এখনো আব্দুল সর্রদারকে স্মরণ করে থাকে শ্রদ্ধার সাথে।



বাঙ্গালী জাতির এই ঐতিহ্যবাহী খেলার লাঠিয়ালদের রাজধানী হলো মাগুরা জেলা। আমরা দেশ ও দেশের বাইরের লাঠিয়াল ও উস্তাদ আব্দুল সর্দারের শীষ্যদের লাঠির কলাকৌশল এখানে আপলোড করছি। বাংলাদেশের বিভিন্ন জেলায় লাঠিখেলার সাথে যুক্ত সকলকে আমাদের সাথে যোগাযোগ করার বিনীত আহবান করছি।
