Thousands of Rohingya youths have fled from the camp to escape the ongoing recruitment happening around the camp in Kutupalong, Balukhali, Theingkhali, etc. The rest of the youths are striving to separate from their families in order to avoid recruitment by the RSO. Moreover, most families are apprehensive and worried about safeguarding their offspring from these perils and crises. Additionally, many Rohingya youths are attempting to flee from the camps to neighboring countries through accessible routes, often getting involved in trafficking and smuggling. Most of these youths are trying to reach countries like India and Malaysia.
However, the RSO group members are coercing Rohingya youths to join them and claiming that everyone aged 14 to 45 has to join them in any situation. Additionally, the RSO members have started kidnapping and abducting people in various places such as sports venues, roads, shops, markets, or bazaars, and even workplaces. They insist on sending people to Myanmar without providing any training or knowledge about guns or combat. By gathering community members from the camps, they forcibly hand them over to the Mongh Baghi, Arakan Army (AA), in exchange for money. Subsequently, the Mongh Baghi (AA) use these untrained Rohingya youths as human shields in battles or wars against the Myanmar government.
All Rohingya civilians, including children, youths, and the elderly, are opposing the ongoing issues in the camp and are demanding immediate safety. The community feels insecure and unsafe, causing worry and anxiety among every family member, leading to depression in the camp.
Specific camps where people are being massively kidnapped and abducted include Camps 3, 18, 17, 10, 6, 7, 4, 12, 11, 5, and 2, etc.
Finally, as authors, we urge readers to spread this message to every international NGO and humanitarian worker, such as ICJ, ICC, ICJ UNHCR, UNICEF, IOM, and RRRC.
