Sheikh Hasina Cricket Stadium SHICS will be developed as a multi-function area. Other than a cricket stadium, the complex will also have indoor sports and water sports facilities.

Sheikh Hasina International Cricket Stadium or The Boat is an under-construction cricket stadium located in sector one of multi-billion dollar Purbachal New Town on the outskirts of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Other than the sports facilities, transit-oriented development with a five-star hotel would be developed in the stadium area. An outer stadium with a capacity of at least 2,500 spectators will also b

e developed which can be used for art performances besides sports.[1]

The stadium is being constructed in Sector I of Purbachal New Town, in close proximity to multi-billion dollars Iconic City development project. The stadium will have five-storied pavilion, 3-tier stands with a capacity of 50,000, and the option to add at least 25,000 additional seats. The budget for the development of the stadium is estimated at ৳1100-crores ($130 million), making it the most expensive cricket stadium in Asia. From the budget, ৳37 crores were allocated towards the development of a separate practice facility for Bangladesh national cricket team.

অবশেষে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে শুরু হতে যাচ্ছে শেখ হাসিনা স্টেডিয়াম তৈরির কাজ। এর জন্য নির্মাণ প্রতিষ্ঠান পপুলাস আর্কিটেকচারের সঙ্গে চুক্তি করেছে বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ড (বিসিবি)। অস্ট্রেলিয়ান প্রতিষ্ঠানটির সঙ্গে মোট ৪৮ মাসের চুক্তি করেছে দেশের ক্রিকেটের নিয়ন্ত্রক সংস্থা বিসিবি।

কাজ শুরু হওয়ার ৩০ মাসের মধ্যে শেষ হবে পূর্বাচলে অবস্থিত শেখ হাসিনা ক্রিকেট স্টেডিয়ামের নির্মাণ কাজ। তবে এরপর আরও ১২ মাস স্টেডিয়াম নিজেদের আয়ত্তে রেখে ত্রুটি ও রক্ষণাবেক্ষণের কাজ করবে নির্মাণ প্রতিষ্ঠানটি। এর আগে প্রথম ছয় মাসে স্টেডিয়ামটি ডিজাইন তৈরি করবে প্রতিষ্ঠানটি।

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan attended an emergency board meeting at the BCB offices in Mirpur today and the main agenda was the approval of the contract agreement with the architecture company Populous which has been appointed to build the Sheikh Hasina International Cricket Stadium.

Populas has the experience of building famous sporting venues around the world that has been part of Olympic and Fifa World Cup.

ঢাকার পূর্বাচলে নির্মাণ হবে শেখ হাসিনা আন্তর্জাতিক ক্রিকেট স্টেডিয়াম। এ স্টেডিয়ামের নকশা করার দায়িত্ব পেয়েছে অস্ট্রেলিয়ান কোম্পানি পপুলাক্স।

পপুলাক্সের পাশাপাশি দুটি কোম্পানি শেখ হাসিনা স্টেডিয়ামের কাজ করার জন্য প্রস্তাব দিয়েছিল। দুটো কোম্পানিরই আছে লর্ডস, এমসিসি, পার্থের মতো স্টেডিয়ামে কাজ করার অভিজ্ঞতা। দুটো কোম্পানিকেই ভালো লেগেছিল বিসিবির। এ সম্পর্কে বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ডের সভাপতি নাজমুল হাসান পাপন জানান, ‘শেখ হাসিনা স্টেডিয়াম নির্মাণের জন্য দুটি কোম্পানি এখানে এসেছে। ক্রাইটেরিয়া অনুযায়ী ওরা যোগ্যতাসম্পন্ন। তারা নিজেদের প্রেজেন্টেশন দেখিয়েছে। এগুলো আমরা দেখেছি, দুটি কোম্পানির প্রেজেন্টেশনই আমাদের কাছে ভালো লেগেছে।’
