"The come back is always stronger than the setback."
Rylan took up triathlon at the age of 7 previously practicing and competing in Judo and Running. I am inspired by Aruban Judokas and Triathletes to pursue my dreams from a young age, following in their footsteps towards the world stage of competition. Judo and Triathlon have impacted my life in a profound way and have taught me the secrets of dedication, respect, humility and determination.
This year has brought me a mixture of great success and challenges. I look now to build on my achievement and learn from the times I have fallen short of my goals. I was very raw when I started doing Triathlon, especially on the bike. I had a crash on the bike and had fracture my collar bone. I have overcome my fear in cycling, and it is fun at this stage. I am surrounded by other junior athletes, and it is fun to attend training session of cycling and swimming together. It's a refreshing change from Judo and Running. After focused training, Rylan will be representing Aruba at CARIFTA Triathlon & Aquathlon in Tobago. I don't see myself as the fastest athlete out there, but I think I'm a mentally though athlete. I definitely have the swim, bike and run to be competitive with anyone in that race. I've got to be optimistic if I want to win. You can always go deeper than you think you can. So much of triathlon is mental, that's something you've got to prepare for just as much as the whole training process. I enjoy the psychological battle to keep pushing. I really love to feel that hurt and try to push on.
Never Give Up.
It is not only my race results that I invite you to be part of, but also my work ethic, community spirit and the positive attitude I share with others.
