🧙 WELCOME TO THE WIZARDS FAMILY, NATHAN BRERETON!

Northside Wizards Basketball is excited to announce Nathan Brereton as Head Coach of our NBL1 Men for the 2027 NBL1 North season.

A significant appointment for our Men’s program, Nathan will join the Wizards following the conclusion of the upcoming NBL season, bringing high-performance experience and a strong focus on player and coach development.

His appointment also strengthens an existing connection between the Wizards and the Tasmania JackJumpers, with Northside juniors Will Magnay and Jed Richardson both part of the JackJumpers organisation.
Nathan is looking forward to building on that connection, developing our emerging talent and creating a strong, visible pathway for the next generation of Wizards players.

💬 Nathan Brereton:
“I’m thankful to Northside Wizards Basketball for their confidence in me and the opportunity to coach the men's NBL1 program. Northside is a proud community association, and I look forward to being a part of that community at the conclusion of this upcoming NBL season.

The development of players and coaches will be a priority, while also ensuring there is a visible pathway for emerging Wizards players.
The JackJumpers have a link to Northside Wizards with it being the home association of Will Magnay and Jed Richardson. I’m excited to build on that relationship, and hopefully have more JackJumpers continuing to develop with the Wizards in the upcoming NBL1 seasons.

I look forward to meeting everyone, getting started, and again would like to thank Northside and the JackJumpers for allowing me this opportunity. I’m hopeful that I can represent Northside Wizards and their community in a way that they are proud of.”

Finals basketball brings plenty of excitement, big moments and big emotions — for our players and those cheering them on from the sidelines.
As we head into finals, we’re asking our Wizards community to help make it a great experience for everyone:

A great development opportunity for our Wizards coaches! 🧙

The Brisbane Bullets are hosting a FREE Coaching Showcase, with their NBL coaching staff delivering a series of 20-minute sessions covering a range of offensive and defensive concepts.

It’s a great chance to hear directly from NBL coaches, gain insight into their coaching philosophies and pick up ideas that can be applied across different levels of the game.
