Help your steerer, STACK YOUR HANDS!

Ever been in a waka
And it feels like it keeps going off line?

Or the steerer just can't seem to handle it?

Have you blamed the steerer? 👀

Of course you have....

Steerers get blamed for so much.
But maybe it's not them.

Hows your stroke?

When your hands aren't stacked,
Top hand over bottom hand (it's a fundamental)
The shaft angles across your body.

Now the pressure from your blade isn't just going backwards,
It's going across the waka.
And that affects the line.

Especially if seat 1 and 2 do this (which happens more than paddlers like to admit).

Meanwhile the steerer is trying to steer around everyone else.

So before you blame the steerer check your own stroke,
STACK YOUR HANDS
Keep the shaft STRAIGHT running along the gunnel,
Not across your body.

And let the steerer steer 🤙🏾
