York Croquet Club hosted the over 65’s Golf Croquet Tournament last weekend 14th/15th of March
We had a good attendance and lots of spirited play over the two days.
Weather conditions were very pleasant which added to the very enjoyable play.
Congratulations go to Simon Moran for winning the Tournament from Rob Sachse in a very close finish.
They both won seven games and Simon won on a count back of hoops run winning by one hoop.
Todd Reynolds did a great job of running the Tournament and Lauren and helpers did a fabulous job as usual with the catering.

York Croquet Club hosted their annual York Croquet Challenge every Tuesday evening in February.
This year we had four teams competing a few down on past years but the fun and competitiveness were still very evident.
The event was held under the direction of Todd Reynolds and assisted by some club members
The Croquet Challenge ended in a close finish with Sweet Treats ( Robyn and Keryn ) and Rippeys ( Jono and Tom ) finishing with five wins each.
The eventual winner being Sweet Treats with the result determined by net hoops.

It’s that time of the year again which means it’s party time at York Croquet Club.
This years New Years Eve theme was get dressed up or just come as you like and there were some fun outfits on show .
Eric graced us with his presence and it was lovely to have him there because as you know he has recently moved to Perth.
We played a couple of games of Croquet over the night with a twist at the blow of the whistle we had to change partners and the next game we had to change to hitting the ball while standing at the side of the ball instead of behind.
I personally found it challenging to play like that and have great respect for the early Croquet players who played that way in the old days.
As usual we played our obligatory first game for 2026 at midnight.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy and successful 2026

York Croquet Club held a huge garage sale last Saturday 8th November compliments of Eric Ayling and Prudence Ford.
As you may well be aware Eric and Prudence are moving down to the city and donated a lot of their surplus possessions to the Croquet Club to be sold and proceeds to be given to our club.
The sale was very successful and we are very appreciative of their kind donations.
Eric has been a stalwart of the York Croquet Club for the past 25 years and competed in and been successful in many local and National events over that time as you will see by the photos attached he was awarded just yesterday with the 2024 AC men’s open ( the shield ) and the 2024 Ida Thorpe ( the cup ) trophies just to add to his many other awards achieved over the years.
Congratulations Eric

Also Congratulations to Todd Reynolds for taking out the Northam trophy he won this year

We think very highly of you Eric and appreciate all the hard work, advice, leadership and friendship you have given the club over the years.
You will be greatly missed by us all….Who are we going to ask now when we want to know something we just say……ask Eric he will know.
Not just us that will miss you that goes for all the other organisations in town that you are so heavily involved in also.
We like to think this is not goodbye just another chapter in your life and we still hope to see you from time to time when you come up the hill.
Even though Eric is moving to Perth he will still remain a part of the York Croquet Club for the foreseeable future and we wish him well with all his future endeavours.

York Croquet Club has just gone through some renovations under the direction of our builder Peter Bailey and ably assisted by club members.
We have made an attachment from the old to the new clubhouse to give a bit more weather protection.
Well done Peter and your helpers.

York Croquet Club on Tuesday 21st October hosted 32 very enthusiastic visitors male and female from the Friendship Force which is a worldwide organisation dedicating to helping people make friends and furthering world peace.
Most of the people were from Perth but also included some people from New Zealand.
They all participated in a game or two of croquet and had such a smashing time (not literally of course) and promised to return in the future.
We loved having them and look forward to their return.

York Croquet Club had a busy bee last Thursday /Friday under the guidance of our green keeper Peter Knox.
Peter cored the greens aided by his helpers followed by top dressing.
Glenys and Sue tended the garden maintenance with pruning and weeding.

It was a lot of hard work put in by all and aptly rewarded at the end of the day.

York Croquet Club held their annual Country Doubles Tournament last weekend 23rd/24th August 2025.
As expected the weather didn’t disappoint with some inclement weather at times over both days.
Players weren’t deterred and played on regardless.
After all it is winter and we so need the rain up here.
We really enjoy these tournaments not only for the croquet but also the comradeship and friendship with being with likeminded people….not to mention the food which never seems to stop coming.
Congratulations to the eventual winners Lachlan and Jenny Millar from Como and runner up Howard and Sandra O’Neill from Narrogin.

York Croquet Club held the Northam Trophy Tournament over last weekend.

The competitors braved the frosty conditions in the morning but that didn’t deter their spirit.

The competitors were treated to the usual York hospitality and we really enjoyed their company over the two days.

Saturday night dinner was delicious…a big thank-you to Eric for his Thai green chicken curry ( and the most important part Glenys for doing the rice 🫣 ) and Barbara for her lemon delicious pudding.
All went down a treat

Congratulations go to our very own Todd Reynolds who won the Tournament despite being the lowest ranked player in the field.
Remember that name because I think you will be hearing more of him in the future.

The runner up was Brian Scott from Halls Head Croquet Club.
