While on holiday last week, Charlotte, our dedicated 7th Kup from Yokine Dojang, found the perfect opportunity to show that Tae Kwon Do isn't just something you do in the dojang—it's a way of life wherever you are.

Whether you're at training, at home, or enjoying a family holiday overseas, there's always time to practise your techniques. Charlotte's side kick, set against the stunning Balinese gardens, is a great reminder that consistency and dedication help build strong martial artists.

Our 2026 Mother’s Day Collage is a tribute to the women who not only encourage their children through their TaeKwonDo journey, but who also have the courage and commitment to train alongside them. 🥋

There is something truly special about a mother who leads by example. ❤️ Through every class, every challenge, and every grading, these women show their children the value of perseverance, humility, discipline, and inner strength. 💪 They prove that growth never has an age limit and that true leadership comes through action.

Amy began her TaeKwonDo journey at our Yokine Dojang in 2002 under the guidance of Instructor Arlene Lockwood, earning her Black Belt in 2009. What makes her journey truly inspiring isn’t just the milestone of achieving Black Belt — it’s the unwavering dedication that followed.

For 24 years, Amy has continuously trained, developed her skills, and generously given back by teaching and mentoring students at our Yokine branch. Her commitment to self-improvement and to the growth of others embodies the true spirit of Taekwondo.

💥 Resistance Pad Drill at Yokine! 💥

At First TaeKwonDo, we add variety to our training. Last week our Yokine students worked on the resistance pad drill – a team exercise where one student strikes the target, one holds the pad, and another provides drag with a belt for added resistance.

This drill builds explosive power, stamina, and correct technique under pressure, while also being a fun way to train together. 👊🔥

🌟 Father’s Day 2025 🌟 At First TaeKwonDo WA, we proudly honour the many fathers who step onto the training floor alongside their children.
TaeKwonDo is more than a martial art — it is a lifelong journey of discipline, respect, and perseverance. When fathers and children train together, the benefits reach far beyond fitness and technique. Fathers lead by example, showing their children the value of commitment, resilience, and personal growth. In a world where many young people look to outside influences as role models, the presence of a father to look up to — right beside them on the Dojang floor — is truly invaluable. Acta Non Verba!

Training side by side, fathers and children share in both triumphs and challenges. They sweat together, overcome difficulties together, and learn that progress comes through patience, effort, grit, and determination. These lessons forge not only stronger martial artists, but also stronger individuals equipped with the mental fortitude to face life’s demands.

Beyond the kicks and patterns, these shared experiences strengthen family bonds, build confidence, and create memories that will be cherished for years to come.

This Father’s Day, we pay tribute to all the fathers who guide, encourage, and inspire — both inside and outside the dojang. Your example is a lasting gift, proving that the greatest lessons are not spoken, but lived.
