As we head into the winter school holidays, Little Athletics Queensland and AK Athletics are offering a suite of athletics workshops at the State Athletics Facility (SAF) @ QSAC that have all ages covered:

🏃 LAQ School Holiday Clinics

A full-day Little Athletics Queensland School Holiday Program offering a fun, active day of skill development across multiple events.

Open to athletes aged 5 to 11 years (Prep to Grade 6)

From relay races and obstacle courses to mini competitions and a thrilling finale race, kids will enjoy a day packed with fun, friendship and active play.

✨ Suitable for all abilities

That's why Little Athletics Queensland and Little Athletics Clubs across Queensland, including Souths Little Athletics Centre, are excited to support the launch of the Athletics in Australia National Participation Plan — a united vision to grow participation in athletics across the nation.

The ambitious goal?

As Steve Moneghetti says, "By 2034 we want to grow athletics to 5 million participants across Australia.

We want to see a vibrant and diverse membership base of 200,000 athletes, coaches and officials... and make athletics more accessible to more Australians by welcoming people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds."

Together, we're creating more opportunities for children, families and communities to experience the fun, friendship and life skills that athletics provides.

🎉✨ We’re incredibly proud to share that Souths has been named Major City Little Athletics Centre of the Year at the Little Athletics Queensland 2026 Conference Dinner and Awards Night on 6 June! ✨🎉

🩷💜💖 This recognition reflects what makes our Centre so special – inclusive and welcoming community where all athletes are encouraged to have a go, connect, have fun and do their best. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️⭐

It’s been a big season for Souths, with record participation, evolving programs to cater for our growing number of athletes, and strong connections across our local community – all made possible by the collective effort behind the scenes and on the field. ✨⭐

We are so grateful to our incredible volunteers, dedicated committee members, supportive parents and carers, and of course our amazing athletes who bring our Centre to life each week. 💜🩷💖

We also received a Centre Registration Award for achieving the highest registration increase for a Centre with 101–250 registered athletes in the 2025 / 2026 season!!

Looking for a fun and active way to keep the kids entertained these school holidays?

Join Little Athletics Queensland for an action-packed day at SAF Stadium, QSAC, where children can run, jump, throw, play and make new friends in a fun and supportive environment.

📅 Thursday, 2 July 2026
⏰ 9:00am – 3:00pm
📍 SAF Stadium, QSAC
Prep to Grade 6 (5–11 years)

Participants will enjoy a variety of exciting activities, including:
• Sprint and relay races
• Obstacle courses and agility games
• Jumping and throwing challenges
• Mini athletics competitions
• A fun finale race

No athletics experience is required, and children of all abilities are welcome.

Fruit and water will be provided throughout the day. Participants should bring a packed lunch, water bottle, hat, sunscreen and suitable athletic clothing.

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Before you race off to register, please hold that starting position! 🛑

We have been advised by Little Athletics Queensland that this email was sent automatically and can be safely disregarded.

While we know everyone is excited for another fantastic season, registrations for the 2026/27 Little Athletics season are not open just yet.

Just perusing the Little Athletics Queensland 2026 Conference documentation for next weekend (5-7 June) and super excited to see our Souths Little Athletics athletes and club featured:

⭐️ The gorgeous smile of 2025-26 U9 athlete, Scarlett, on the front page of the conference handbook, and also in the LAQ 2025-26 Annual Report 🤩

⭐️ Souths named within the top 10 in Queensland for highest membership growth for 2025-26 - we were fourth in the State! 👏

⭐️ Souths athletes, Mila (U13) and Sasha Josipovic (U15), named within the Queensland team for the 2025 Australian Little Athletics Championships (ALAC) 🏅🏅

LAQ's Annual Report covers the year from 1 April to 31 March each year, so the ALAC report is always for the previous year - next year's report will feature Nina and Clara Josipovic's Queensland team qualification and competition at ALAC's.

So proud of our athletes and our little but growing club! Thank you all for your support 🏃‍♀️🏃🙏😀🙏🏃‍♀️‍➡️🏃‍➡️
