This post from goes hand in hand with our last post on training vs exercise.
Something is ALWAYS better than nothing 👇🏻

This is a ripper study. 16 weeks of resistance training, followed by 32 weeks of controlled detraining. It’s so rare to see studies that cover almost an entire year of effects in training!

All three groups did a 16 week resistance training program which led to increases in their muscle mass. This was followed by a 32 week detraining block of varying volumes.

Group 1 did zero resistance training during their 32 weeks. As a result, they lost 30% of their total muscle mass the end of the detraining block.

Group 2 did 1/9th (11%) of the training volume during their deload. They lost only 1%of their muscle mass. 

Group 3 did 1/3rd (33%) of their training volume during the 32 week reload.
They managed to increase their muscle mass despite the reduced training loads.

So even if you just can’t be bothered getting off the couch for that run/circuit/strength session/yoga/pilates/cycle because it doesn’t feel worth it. Just remember:

Anything is better than nothing, eve if it’s just an 11% workout.
At least you won’t go backwards.
