We all play this game for different reasons.

Some play for the competition. Some for the friendships. Some for the fitness. Some simply for the love of being part of a team.

Football gives us so much throughout our lives. It teaches us resilience, commitment, teamwork, and creates memories that last a lifetime. For many of us, it becomes much more than just a game.

And sometimes, football gives back for far longer than most people could ever imagine.

At 72 years of age, Albert continues to pull on the green and gold of Holroyd Rangers every week. Not only is he the oldest player at our club, but arguably the oldest player competing in our district.

For the past 10 years, Albert has proudly represented Holroyd Rangers, showing up week after week with the same passion, dedication and love for the game that first brought him to the football field.

In a sporting world often focused on youth, Albert reminds us that age is truly just a number. His commitment, enthusiasm and determination continue to inspire players of all ages throughout our club.

We are incredibly proud to have Albert wearing the badge and representing everything that makes community football so special. His story is a reminder that the game belongs to everyone, and that the love of football can stay with you for a lifetime.

Congratulations Albert. You are an inspiration to our players, our members and our entire football community.

Tough one to take for our women tonight, going down 1-0 to Quakers Hill Tigers in a closely fought contest.

With very little separating the two sides throughout the match, the only difference proved to be a penalty late in the second half.

Our girls can hold their heads high after a spirited performance. Against a Quakers Hill side that applied a relentless high press, we created a number of promising opportunities and had our chances to find the breakthrough, but it just wasn’t to be our night.

After a difficult run of results, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance, with the effort, intensity, and commitment on display for the full 90 minutes 💚💛

Football can be a game of fine margins, and tonight was exactly that. We regroup, stay together, and continue working hard as we look ahead to the next challenge 👊

There’s no doubt our women have hit a rough patch over the past few weeks, but tonight presents the perfect opportunity to turn things around.

For the first time in over a month, the girls are finally back on home soil and will be looking to put in a strong performance and get their season back on track 👊

There’s also a little extra spice to this one. Last season our girls met Quakers Hill Juniors in the Grand Final, and many of those players now line up for Quakers Hill Tigers. With plenty of familiar faces on the opposition side, there’s no shortage of history between these groups and both teams will be desperate to come away with the three points 🔥

This has all the ingredients of a massive contest, and our girls need your support more than ever.
