The U11’s Redbacks Young leaders Program
This season the Under 11’s Redbacks trialed a Young Leaders Program developed and implemented by one of their coaches (Amy).
The goal of the program is to enhance self-confidence, leadership and soccer skills within the team, allowing space for the team to learn from each other as well as from their coaches.
Each week 2-3 young leaders nominated themselves and would teach 3-4 groups of team mates a soccer skill. The groups would then rotate. At the end of the program, the team gives thanks and affirming feedback to their leaders.
The program has been a huge success, with no hesitation from team mates to give it a go (some even volunteering more than once!)
and we have seen such great results in the team individually and as a collective due to their efforts and this program. A big congratulations and shoutout to this seasons amazing young leaders (Joey, Leo, James, Sammy, Amelia, Michael, Will, Hailey) who demonstrated incredible leadership, creativity in their ideas and amazing skill and to those who have volunteered for following weeks!
