Wairarapa Powerboat Club Wairarapa Powerboat Club is located on the Ruamahanga River and is known as “The fastest water in New Zealand”.

Our race dates for this season are: 20th-21th Sept - Jnr Training, testing and Kilos
24th-25th Jan - Racing Regatta
4th-5th Apr - kilos

We are proud to announce some new rules for the upcoming season, exciting times ahead 🏁🏁🏁🏁

🛥️ 1. “New Silent Racing Rules”

“Big changes coming this season… all boats must now run in silent mode for noise compliance. Competitors will be judged on stealth and wake control. Electric conversions recommended.”

🐄 2. “New Safety Requirement”

“Due to recent wildlife encounters, all racers must now carry an onboard inflatable livestock deflection device. Mandatory from next round.”

🧃 3. “Fuel Change Announcement”

“In partnership with a new sponsor, all boats must now run on eco-friendly biofuel… made from locally sourced L&P and pies.”

🏁 4. “Reverse Racing Format”

“For spectator excitement, Round 1 will now be run in reverse direction. Drivers must complete a full lap backwards before turning.”

🧑‍⚖️ 5. “New Judging Category”

“Introducing a new points category: Best Ramp Entry Style. Extra points for skids, music, and crowd hype.”

🦆 6. “Wildlife Marshal Announcement”

“Pleased to welcome our newest race marshal—a highly trained lake duck. Any competitors ignoring its calls will be penalised.”

“All boats will undergo random ‘vibe checks’ before racing. Officials will determine if your setup feels fast enough.”
