🔥 Pressure passing with a dangerous twist.

Prof. John walked us through a slick double unders pass, using tight control and pressure before transitioning into a leg lock setup by crossing the legs and trapping the position.

🧠 Control the hips.
⚙️ Limit the movement.
🎯 Attack the opening.

One movement flows into the next — because in Jiu-Jitsu, the best submissions are often hidden inside the pass.

🔥 Monday Advanced with Coach Con Lazos 🔥

Back to the fundamentals and a reminder that the basics, done right, are unstoppable.

Coach Con broke down a super effective side control escape, built on precision and timing:

👣 Knee tight to the hip, toes up
🛡️ Arm tucked in close to protect
💥 Strong bridge with a cross face - “look at your watch”
🧠 Sneak the knee and arm in to create space
🌀 Shrimp the bottom shoulder out pr should closest to the floor, other hand on the head to frame
➡️ Keep sh*****ng until you’ve created full distance

Simple. Sharp. Effective.

💬 “It’s not about flashy moves - it’s about mastering the fundamentals.”

👊 Drill it. Trust it. Use it.

🎯 Coach Jordan breaking down the Berimbolo. From entry to ex*****on, Coach Jordan walks us through the details of one of the most dynamic transitions in modern jiu-jitsu.

💥 Whether you’re setting up the back take or looking to create scramble pressure, the berimbolo rewards precision, timing, and commitment to the movement.

🔥 Big thanks to Coach Jordan for the knowledge and energy! Keep drilling. Keep evolving. Keep showing up.

🔒 Control, Precision, and the Unexpected
Prof. John walks us through the reverse Canto choke crucifix - a calculated submission from full guard that demands patience and timing. But he doesn’t stop there…

When your opponent tries to reverse the pressure, he shows how a sneaky wrist lock counter turns the tables...even from the top.

⚖️ In jiu-jitsu, every grip tells a story. Every response creates opportunity.

💥 Learn the game within the game.
👊 Keep training. Keep evolving.

🎯 Set the trap. Change the plan. Finish strong.
Prof. John takes us deeper into the art of arm bar submission variations, using classic bait-and-switch setups that challenge your opponent’s reactions and reward your timing.

🪤 They think it’s a sweep.
💥 You shift. You switch. You submit.

These aren’t just attacks — they’re chains of possibilities, built on patience, pressure, and precisprecision.

In Jiu-Jitsu, the illusion of choice is the real submission.

🧩 Precision, Pressure, Pain - in that order.
Prof. John continues the flow, taking us from De La Riva into advanced leg entanglements - calf slicer and heel hook variations that demand both timing and control.

⚙️ Opponent bases out? That’s your cue.
🔀 Off-balance. Entangle. Finish.
🦵 From outside hook to tight compression... it's chess, not checkers.

These aren’t just flashy moves - they’re high-level concepts in leverage, mechanics, and awareness. And they're part of what makes this art a lifelong pursuit.

💬 Jiu-Jitsu is not about brute strength. It’s about understanding the puzzle.

🔄 Continuing the Flow — De La Riva ➝ Single X ➝ Sweep. We kept the momentum going this week with more variations from the De La Riva guard, transitioning smoothly into Single X sweeps.

🌀 Control the outside leg.
🌪 Disrupt the base.
🎯 Elevate and sweep with purpose.

Whether they posture, pressure, or sit back - you have answers. These sequences teach us that movement with intention beats muscle every time.

💬 In Jiu-Jitsu, your strongest weapon is your timing.

🎯 Reading the Pass Before It Happens
Prof. John walked us through a powerful De La Riva sequence that combines timing, structure, and submission threat.

Opponent drives their knee into your leg and tries to flatten and pass?
You're already one step ahead:

🧠 Foot behind the knee, ankle hook locked in.
✊ Collar grip secured.
🎯 As they commit to the pass, you pivot - opening up a tight cross collar choke before they even realise they’re in danger.

Jiu-Jitsu isn’t just defence - it’s strategy in motion because when the setup is right, the finish feels effortless.

💬 A good choke closes the deal before the fight even begins.

🥋 Back to the basics - where mastery begins.
Prof. John takes us through the fundamentals with a clean full guard escape, flowing into side control variations that remind us why position is everything.

These may be basics - but they're the building blocks of high-level Jiu-Jitsu. Control the hips, clear the legs, claim the pass. Repeat.

💬 Advanced Jiu-Jitsu is just basic Jiu-Jitsu done really well.

👊 Keep showing up. Keep refining. The details matter.

In this powerful session, Professor John Macris demonstrated how to turn a seemingly defensive position - being stuck in your opponent’s half guard which transitions into a clean and dangerous leg lock submission chain.

🌀 Sequence Highlights:

Starting inside uke’s half guard, Coach John maintains strong posture and hand positioning to shut down sweeps

Creates separation and exposes the far leg by shifting weight and isolating the hips

Flows directly into a leg bar submission, catching uke off balance

If they resist or posture, transitions into a foot lock variation, applying pressure with precision and control

The message? Don’t settle in half guard, turn it into your opportunity to attack.

Already rolling with Team Norton? Keep showing up, stay sharp. And if you’ve got a mate curious about leg locks or jiu-jitsu in general, bring them along for a session...we’re always building.
