A good quality canvas product should last decades, and with these 8 simple steps, your ground tent, rooftop tent, or swag, will be ready for anything Mother Nature throws your way. In no particular order, let's GO:
Weather It: Get your new or stored canvas wet before your trip to seal those seams!
Look Up: Avoid setting up under sap-dripping trees or bird-bomb zones! 🌳💩
Dry It Out: ALWAYS pack away dry! If you can't, unpack and dry it in the sun as soon as you get home.
Keep It Clean: Brush off dust and dirt after every trip with a soft brush.
Inspect It: Regularly check for mildew or small tears before they become big problems.
Fight Mildew: This is canvas's #1 enemy! Address any dark spots immediately with brushing or a vinegar/water mix.
Reproof: If your canvas starts losing its water-repellency, it's time to reproof it!
Store Smartly: Keep your canvas off the ground, out of direct sun, and away from critters. Avoid tarps – your canvas needs to breathe!
