We are into the second half of the footy season and only those pesky Panthers are clear leaders on the pointscore board. The Kiwis were up there with them but have had a few losses and now they are only just in front of a few teams . It would be wonderful to see the Phins in the grand finals. They are such an exciting young team to watch, shame Katoa is going to Storm next year, could be worse and he goes to Roosters.
As for the local tipping score board, Paul T has made a move and is now equal first with Cameron P on 78pts. Steve P is second on 74pts and Graeme R 73pts. Not that far behind we have Kerry D, Maree H and David C on 71pts. Sitting on 69pts is Christine R. Come on girls.
It will be interesting to see who refs this week's state of Origin. Klien has been in the news for his race betting on the side. Did he ever have a sneaky bet on any footy matches he refed. Just wondering. Maroons, Ponga is also in the news for his tackling style which has taken a few players at of the action and also his taking of the high ball with his feet kicking out at any player nearby. Both very dangerous. Go the Blues.
Wed has state of Origin, Thurs night sees the U19 state of Origin and Friday night kicks of Rd 15 with Knights against Dragqueens . On paper this should be a win for Knights. Tigers play Phins in the first of the Sat games. Phins for me. Next up poor Titans take on pesky Panthers and last game for the night has Doggies taking on mighty Manly. No guesses who I'm going for.
Three games for Sunday starting with Kiwis at home to C'girls. Should be a Kiwi win but it's anybody's guess. Next up Storm at home to Raiders, this is the T.V game and lastly Roosters play Sharkies. This result will depend on which players are able to back up from State of Origin. Broncos, Eels and Rabbits have the bye.
Score boards can be checked in Lochie's butcher shop and the main street bottlo. Tips in before kickoff Friday night but don't be shy about getting them in earlier, makes my life easier. Good luck to your team and go mighty Manly. Till next week, Sea eagle Sue.

10/06/2026

As promised last week, i will update where all tipsters sit on the scores. Still in front and only just is Cameron P on 75, Paul T on 74 and Steve P on 71.
Graeme R -70
Kerry D & Maree H-68, go girls.
David C -67
Sue P, Heather P, Christine R & Jo F-65
Julie E-64
Gay W-63
Fiona C, Andrew F & Mick F-61
Barbara H, Judith F & Andrew F-60
Leah R-59
John B-58
Lochie-57
Greg H-56
Rory G-53
Dave V-52
Melissa A-51
There it is, it's not impossible for any tipster to get on the podium it will only take a perfect round and hope those in front of you have a terrible round.
It's a split round this week due to the state of origin coming up. Starting with Rabbits taking on the Broncos on Thurs night. Both teams missing players so it's anybody's guess. It is in Sydney though. One game Friday night and that's between Phins and Roosters. Phins home game and missing perhaps Katoa. Roosters missing many.
Sat starts with Kiwis at home to the Sharkies. Kiwis have been a bit more consistent than Sharkies but toss of coin. Eels at home take in the Raiders in the second Sat night game. Talk about inconsistent. Raiders missing a few for state of origin and Moses out for Eels but also struggling with lots of injuries.
Teams to have the bye are Doggies, C'girls, Dragqueens, Knights, Panthers, mighty Manly and Storm.
Final game for Rd 15 sees Tigers taking on the Titans. After last week's embarrassing loss, surely Tigers can bounce back, or not.
Score sheets up in Lochie's butcher shop and the main street bottle shop. No longer up in Spilt Milk because the girls painted the walls a pretty pink and chose not to put up the sheets. They still make the best treaties.
Tips in before kick off Thurs night, good luck to your team if they are playing. Till next week, Sea eagle Sue.

One down, one to go. That's all it's going to take to win the state of origin series. The girls did it so why can't the men. I like in the girls game that there is no 6 again. The game flows along and we're not sitting/standing there yelling at the T.V asking what the hell that was for!!!
Top tipster from rd13 was surprisingly Steve P with 6 right. There were a few of us that got 2 right and one tipster managed one right, she did not even take her team tsk tsk. Cameron P is only just hanging onto his lead on 70pts, Paul T is closing in on 68 and Steve P has got himself on the podium with 65pts. Next up is Graeme R on 64 then Kerry D and Dave C on 62 and Heather P and Maree H on 61. Next week will be the full list of all tipsters.
A few highlights from rd13 include the Dragqueens first win in at least 15 weeks . Cocky Broncos thought it was going to be easy. Tigers win over Doggies was another sort of upset but Doggies have been woeful so far this season. Of course any team that beats Roosters have to be mentioned even if it's Storm. Good to see Ricky's Raiders get another win.
A blockbuster game on Thurs night gets rd 14 started. Mighty Manly at Brookie take on the Rabbits. Lots riding on this game in yours truly household. Go mighty Manly. Friday nights starts with Storm at home to Knights. Storm on the comeback and Knights playing well, tough to pick. The Friday night T.V game has Ricky's Raiders playing Roosters. Sourpuss Robinson will have his Roosters up for this after last weeks loss.
Saturday arvo kicks off with C'girls taking on the Phins. Battle of the north. Phins fresh form a bye should have this. Next up is Broncos taking on Titans. Maguire has made a few changes to his team after their loss in rd 13 so we'll see how that goes. Titans haven't got going this season.
Sunday starts with Tigers playing pesky Panthers. Tigers played well in rd 13 but up against this team is a different game. The T.V game has Sharkies against the Dragqueens. Sharkies will have to bring their A game to win. Being a long weekend there is a Monday arvo game and it's between Doggies and Eels. Definitly a toss of the coin. Kiwis have the bye.
Score sheets can be viewed at Lochie's butcher shop and the Main street bottle shop just opposite the reds. Tips in before kickoff Thurs night, good luck to your team and go Manly or yours truly life will be unbearable in this household. Till next week, Sea eagle Sue.

27/05/2026

This has got to be the best week for footy viewing. Last night we watched the wonderful Blues come back from the dead, thanks Ponga, to win the first state of origin. I was getting frustrated watching Teddy hog the ball and not pass but nearly all was forgiven when he scored the winning try. Cleary deserved the man of match award.
Tonight we watch the women's 3rd state of origin game. Lets hope they get the win and make it 3-o. And Friday night sees the Sharkies at home to mighty Manly. Koula will be out for Manly but hopefully Olakau'atu will be back. Go mighty Manly. What a start to a weekend of footy.
Saturday afternoon starts with the Knights taking on the Eels. This game will be of great interest to a few supporters I know. Could be some interesting betting on this game. This is followed by Tigers taking on the Doggies. Tigers have injuries, Doggies have players coming back from origin, who knows, toss a coin. Storm and Roosters complete the Sat night games. Again which team has players coming back from origin and who doesn't. I'm sure Teddy will still be celebrating and will not sober up in time.
Three games for Sunday afternoon watching .Broncos take on Dragqueens to get it all started. If Dragqueens can get it together this could be their only chance to get a win. The free to air T.V. game is between Raiders and C'girls. Another tough pick and so is the last game for the weekend between Panthers and Kiwis. Hard to write off pesky panthers but who will be playing. Kiwis will miss the winger with the curly mullet, i cannot spell his name and cannot find it in the paper. Roger is his first name and of course the usual hyphenated surname. He will be missed.
Rabbits, Phins and Titans all get the bye.
No movement in the tipsters positions but one tipster did manage to get none right and as a result another tipster who forgot to put in their tips also gets nil. This is what happens if tipsters forget their tips. You get the lowest score of another tipster.
Scoresheets are up in the main street bottle shop, Lochies butchers and Spilt milk cafe.
Tips in before kickoff Friday night, good luck to your team and go mighty Manly. Till next week Sea eagle sue.

18/05/2026

How good were the girls Blues winning the state of origin series. Both games very low scoring but in the second game it was the tackle by Jesse Southwell and then Teagan Berry to seal the the game. Southwell deserved the player of the series award.
All we need now is for the men to do the same. Latrell Mitchell put his club first in their game against the Phins and now cannot play Origin. I can understand wanting to do the right thing for his club but he did not contribute much and is now out with injury a lot longer and no good to any team. Both NSW and QLD have 6 debutants in their teams so it will be a good match up. Regardless, go the Blues.
Another high scoring round and not much has changed on the scoreboard for tipsters. Cameron P still in the lead on 65pts, Paul T on 59, Graeme R 57, Steve P on 56, Kerry D and David C on 55pts. After Rd 14 i will give a complete update on where all tipsters sit on the scoreboard. Otherwise check it all out at the 3 businesses in town.
Round 12 is a short round due to the Origin on Wed 27th May. Thursday kicks off with Raiders at home to the Phins. Raiders off the bye and Phins big win over Rabbits, this is a hard pick. Friday night sees only one game. Doggies against Storm. Both teams missing players so another toss of the coin.
Dragqueens and the Kiwis get Sat arvo started. Not too many Kiwis in the Origin games so it's Kiwis for me. Mighty Manly up next against the Titans at Brookie oval. Manly will miss Olakau'atu and Koula but for me, mighty Manly. One game on the Sunday and it's C'girls taking on the Rabbits. Cameron Murray a big loss for Rabbits and surely they cannot play as bad as they did last week. C'girls coming from a big win over Roosters so it will be close.
Broncos, Eels, Knights, Panthers, Roosters, Sharkies and Tigers all have the bye.
Check out the score sheets in Lochie's butcher shop, the bottlo in town and Spilt Milk Cafe. Round 11 and 12 will not be up till next week as I'm away a few days. Good luck to your team if they are playing in Rd 12, tips in before kick off Thursday night and go mighty Manly. Till next week Sea eagle Sue.

11/05/2026

Round 10 looked way to straight forward but with only one real upset, being the Eels over the C'girls the round was easy. Phins made it look easy with their win over poor Doggies. They are going nowhere at the moment. Coach Ciraldo cannot get his on field combinations right and keeps changing them. Roosters and pesky Panthers were always going to win, there were a few protected species moments in their games but i don't think it made any difference. Victor Radley is certainly not one of them. Storm and Knights had big wins and then Rabbits and mighty Manly were great.
I'm getting a bit sick of all the six agains being called. It can completely change a game and not always for the better. Good to see lots of new young players playing well to fill in for injured others.
Not much has changed in the points score sheets. Cameron P in front on 59pts, Paul T next on 52pts and tied up on 50pts is David C, Steve P and Graeme R. Kerry D is making her move up the ladder being on 49pts and Maree H on 48pts. Lots of us on 47pts. Still a long way to go.
Round 11 is the magic round and all games are played in Brisbane and there will be a free to air game on Sat. The girls state of origin gets the round started on Thurs night. Go the Blues. Sharkies play the Doggies in the first of the Friday night games. Sharkies for me. The T.V game sees the Rabbits playing the Phins. This will be entertaining. Rabbits have a new Latrell in their team and he filled in for the old Latrell and played brilliant.
Tigers play mighty Manly to start the Sat games. Surely Manly can beat an injured Tiger team. Roosters then play C'girls and then Eels play Storm. Roosters and Storm must be favourites for these games.
Sunday kicks off with the Titans playing the Knights. After last round, Knights should win this. The Kiwis, fresh from a bye, should beat the Broncos. This is the T.V game. Finishing off magic round pesky Panthers play a very sad Dragqueen team. Glad this is not the T.V game. Raiders have the bye.
Scoresheets can be checked out in Lochies butcher shop, Spilt milk cafe and main street bottlo. Tips in before kickoff Friday but they can be sent in any day beforehand. Good luck to your team, some need it more than others, and go mighty Manly. Till next week, Sea eagle Sue.

05/05/2026

Just when you thought your team had turned a corner and got all the kinks ironed out, nope they go and lose and you're back to square one. I think Doggies have been very disappointing, Rabbits were on a roll but lost a very tight battle with Knights, admittedly Kayln Ponga for Knights had blinder and was underestimated and pesky Panthers ended mighty Manly's run, but only just. Raiders, C'girls and Sharkies all redeemed themselves this week.
It was a shame to see injuries to key players. Jack Wighton for Rabbits with a broken arm, Tigers Doueihi with a shoulder injury and Marky Mark for Roosters with an ankle injury. It's bad enough for their teams but worse for the Blues side.
A bit of movement in the score board, Cameron P is out in front on 52pts, Paul T is 2nd on 46pts, Graeme R on 44pts, Steve P and David C on 43pts and Kerry D, Maree H and Fiona C all on 42pts. Come on the girls.
Now to round 10 games. Starting on Thursday night we have Phins at home to the Doggies. I enjoy watching Phins play so I hope they get the win. Roosters play Titans in the first of the Friday night games, i feel Roosters at home will be too strong. Next up and the T.V game sees C'girls at home to the Eels. I feel it's going to be a long sad season for Eels and their supporters.
Dragqueens at home against the Knights. Unless the Dragqueens found a bit of oommmfff in the bye week I cannot see them beating Knights. Did I just put the jinx on Knights!!! Second game for the night has Rabbits playing Sharkies. Tough one to pick, Might have to have an each way bet here. Last game sees mighty Manly taking on Broncos at Brookie. Both had losses last round and Broncos have a few injuries so for me, of course, it's mighty Manly.
Storm play the Tigers to get Sunday afternoon started. Which team will bounce back the better after round 9. No opinion on this one. The T.V game has Raiders at home to the pesky Panthers. Raiders will have to bring their A game to this one and i would love to see them win, I'm not a huge fan of watching Panthers, sure they are a good team but too methodical, boring. Kiwis get the bye.
Check out the score sheets up in Spilt Milk Cafe, still sell the best banana bread, the main street bottle shop, they don't sell anything bad in there and Lochie's butcher shop, their sliced wood smoke ham is delicious.
Tips in before kick off Thurs night, good luck to your team, some are going to need it and go go mighty Manly. Till next week Sea eagle Sue.

27/04/2026

Round 8 done and dusted and some tipsters had no trouble tipping 6 and 7 right but Cameron P has picked up a prize for picking the round plus scoring 2 extra points. Cameron has hit the lead on 45pts with Paul T, Steve P and Graeme R all tied on 39pts and then in 3rd spot on 37pts are Christine R, Dave V, Fiona C and David C.. Kerry D and John B are hot on their heels with 36pts. Early days folks so plenty of time to make a move up the score board.
Teams which finished on a high last year are letting us all down this year. Raiders, Sharkies and Doggies just have not clicked so far. What happens to these teams during the off season? Tigers on the other hand are going great. Oh yeah then there is Storm, not too many people upset at their demise, except a few tipsters, but has the coach lost his touch. I'll miss his tantrums if he goes.
Roosters doing well but then they have bought enough big name players they should do well, the Kiwis and Panthers are continuing where they left off last season and then there is mighty Manly. Yeah i know, your sick of hearing about them but they are a new team under Foran. Stand out player Olakau'atu had a blinder although he gave away a few penalties his effort made up for them.
Round 9 starts with the Womens state of Origin on Thurs night. Very much worth watching, go the Blues. Friday games start with Doggies at home to the C'girls. Hopefully Doggies can get a home win and i'm not sure if C'girls like travelling for away games. The T.V game has Phins playing Storm. Surely Phins can get the win here. First game for Sat has the Titans at home to Raiders. Both desperate for a win, next up we have Eels against the Kiwis. Eels have so many injuries that i feel the Kiwis should get this. Last game for the evening has Roosters at home to the Broncos. I would love to see Broncos win this but at home I think Roosters will be too strong.
Three games for Sunday, starting with Knights taking on the Rabbits. Another home game for Knights but it did them no favours last round and Rabbits had that big win over Storm so it's a Rabbits win. The T.V game has Sharkies playing Tigers. Home games have not been an advantage so far, so this is a hard one to pick. Last game for the round has pesky Panthers at home against mighty Manly. This will be a big test for Manly and Foran's coaching but for me it's mighty Manly. Dragqueens finally get a win with the bye this round.
The score boards can be checked out on Spilt Milk cafe, the main street bottle shop and Lochies butchers.
Good luck to your team, some of us will be happy, some sadly disappointed. Go mighty Manly, till next week Sea eagle Sue.

21/04/2026

Another coach bites the dust. It had to happen, Flannagan was never going to last at Draqqueens after 11 losses, that's counting from the end of last year. Which coach is next? Dare i say Bellamy or C'girls coach. How about Dragqueens get Bellamy, Flannagan goes to C'girls and Payton to Storm. Those teams couldn't do any worse.
Mighty Manly got round 7 off to a good start with a sound defeat of C'girls, again only a handful of Manly supporters took them. Rabbits had a good win over Dragqueens but it really is no claim to fame and then the Eels gave the Doggies a lesson in footy. Latrell Mitchell is the new villan. He takes offence at being tackled and then starts pushing and shoving players after he makes a tackle. Refs don't like making a call against him for fear of what he will say to the press.
Rd 8 starts off with the Tigers at home to the Raiders. It does not get any easier these picks. Friday kicks off with C'girls playing Sharkies followed by the T.V game between Broncos and Doggies.
Saturday afternoon has the Anzac Day game between Dragons and Roosters on free to air T.V Should be an easy one for the Roosters. The Kiwis then take on the Phins and Storm play Rabbits. Rabbits don't have the best results against Storm but if they need a win then this is the time to take Storm out.
Knights take on pesky Panthers in the first game on Sunday arvo. I think only loyal Knights fans will take them for the win. The T.V game sees mighty Manly at home playing Eels. There's a lottery ticket on this game. Titans have the bye.
Not much change on the scoreboard . Cameron P in front on35pts, Graeme R and Paul T on 33pts and Steve P on 32pts. Bit of a traffic jam on 31pts with Julie E, Sue P, Christine R and David C and just as many on 30pts.
Scoresheets are up in Lochie's butcher shop, the bottle shop in town and Spilt milk cafe. Tips to be in before kickoff Thurs night and good luck to your teams and mighty Manly go for the jugular against Eels. Till next week Sea eagle Sue.

13/04/2026

Round 6 looked so straight forward to pick winners. How wrong we all were. From the first game on Thurs night when the Doggies beat the pesky Panthers in a superb game to the last game where Tigers beat the Knights nothing went to plan for tipsters. Top points were 4, lowest was 1 and they were lucky to get that.
Mighty Manly had to pull their finger out in the 2nd half to beat the Dragqueens, C'girls did well to come back to defeat Broncos but Rabbits left their run too late to beat the Raiders. Sharkies looked to have to win over Roosters but let their guard down and Roosters won. The Kiwis win over Storm made sure Storm stayed in the bottom half of the ladder, don't know what happened to Eels in their woeful loss to Titans and then Tigers ran all over the Knights. The Knights could fine it tough going now as they have a lot of money players sitting on the sidelines.
The tipping ladder hasn't changed much. Cameron P is still leading on 30pts, Julie E, Paul T and Graeme R all on 28 and Steve P on 27. At this point we have a tie for the wooden spoon between Melissa A and Judith F. The only reason a Rooster supporter got 4 right this week was because his grandson does the picking. He's a better tipster than his grandfather.
Oh no, mighty Manly are the T.V game on Thurs night. It's too nerve wracking watching it and getting hoarse yelling at the T.V. They are playing up in C'girl land. Hopefully Drinkwater has an off night and Fogarty has an on night. Raiders play the Storm in the first of the Friday night games. Raiders will be all hyped up after their win so hope they go on with it. The T.V game has Phins at home to the pesky Panthers. Panthers don't often lose 2 in a row. Still a hard pick. Sat night starts with the Kiwis playing the Titans. Kiwis at home are hard to go against. Rabbits need to win their game over Dragqueens, no team wants to be the first to lose to Dragons. Tigers play Broncos to finish off the night. This will be a great game and for me it's the Tigers.
Roosters play Knights in the Sunday arvo game. Nathan Brown is back for Knights, morally he will be good for the team but no impact. Last game for the round has the Eels playing the Doggies. Hopefully it will not be too lopsided. Sharkies have the bye.
Tipsters score sheets are up in Lochie's butcher shop, The bottlo and Spilt Milk cafe. Tips in before kickoff Thurs night and good luck to your teams and mighty Manly need to bring their A game. Till next week, sea eagle Sue.
