Shaw and Partners 20 Beaches Ocean Classic Race Update
With restrictions easing across NSW, the Race Organisers of the 2021 Shaw and Partners 20 Beaches Ocean Classic are feeling very positive about this years race which is set for Saturday December 11th, 2021.
We encourage everyone to ramp up your training because it looks like this years race is going to be ON!
Just to keep everyone informed and excited about the race, here are a couple of important things to know about this years edition of the Shaw and Partners 20 Beaches Ocean Classic:
1) We plan to open entries for the race on November 26th, just 2 weeks out from race day, so it is important that you save the race day date in your calendar.
2) The Race course will be between Collaroy and Palm Beach. Race Direction dependent on wind direction.
3) Prize Money- Because of the uncertainty of the covid situation and borders re-opening, there will be no prize money this year. We will ensure the prize money will be back in full for 2022. Rumour has it that defending Menβs Champ, Cory Hill will be on the start line, aiming to get his name on the Steve Wood Trophy for a third time!
4) As many of us have not had a chance to race in the ocean for a while, please ensure you are an experienced open water paddler who is able to remount your ski in ocean conditions. Please note on your race entry, you will need to declare that you can remount your Surfski in open water.
5) We will be conducting the race as per NSW government Covid rules and regulations.
6) We do not intend on holding an indoor Prize Giving party/ presentation this year, so you will be free for social activities on the evening of December 11th, which we know will be a busy social time of year.
We will come back to you soon with further updates and information and we look forward to seeing everyone again for the great race on December 11th.
