Ladies’ Golf Results – Thursday 6th August ⛳️

What a couple of days of weather we’ve had! 🌧️ Thursday’s ladies played PAR, and with no power, we had to go old-school and dust off the paper scorecards! 😄📝

The course was certainly challenging, with plenty of mud and puddles to contend with after the torrential rain over the previous two days. 🌧️💦 But as always, the ladies were up for the challenge!

🏆 Winner of the day was Amanda Ashton, who finished square from a handicap of 47.
🥈 Runner-up was Lola Carter, finishing on -1.

Tuesday’s 9-hole competition was played in much kinder conditions, and congratulations go to Donna Brown, our winner with an excellent 16 points from a handicap of 19. 👏⛳️

Well played everyone! We’re looking forward to getting back out on the course next week — hopefully with a little less rain, a lot less mud and some sunshine! ☀️🤞

🏆 Head and Shoulders Above the Field – Glenn Elliot Masters the Wet Conditions! ⛳

Despite plenty of overnight rain leaving the course a little waterlogged, a handful of hardy golfers weren't going to let the weather stand in the way of their weekly golf fix at today's Welcome Wednesday Open Stableford.

Thankfully the rain mostly stayed away throughout the day, making for some very playable conditions, and one man stood head and shoulders above the rest of the field.

Congratulations to Glenn Elliot, who produced a superb round to claim both Player of the Day and the overall win with an outstanding 41 Stableford points. A fantastic effort, Glenn! 👏🏆

Runner-up honours went to Al De Dios, who also played some excellent golf to finish with a very respectable 37 Stableford points. Well played, Al! 👏

A big thank you to everyone who braved the conditions and supported today's competition. Hopefully the warmer weather isn't too far away!

⚠️ Power Outage Notice – Thursday 6th August ⚠️

Please be advised that the Yallourn Golf Club clubhouse will be closed this Thursday, 6th August, due to a scheduled power outage.

🕣 Power will be unavailable from 8:30am to 4:30pm.

Unfortunately, this means the clubhouse will not be open during these hours. We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience while these essential works are completed.

The golf course will remain open where possible, however there will be no clubhouse facilities available during the outage.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to welcoming everyone back once power is restored. ⛳️💚

⛳️ HOLE IN ONE! ⛳️

Some moments in golf are simply unforgettable, and on Saturday Gary Downs experienced the one every golfer dreams of.

During our Captain v President Day, Gary produced the ultimate golfing feat with a sensational **hole in one on the 2nd hole**. It's golf's holy grail, and there couldn't be a more deserving person to achieve it.

Gary is one of the genuine good blokes at Yallourn Golf Club. He's always happy to lend a hand, whether it's helping around the club, volunteering his time, or quietly getting jobs done behind the scenes. In fact, he even managed to squeeze in painting our Monash Square sign between hitting hole-in-ones! Now that's dedication. 😄

Achievements like this are special, but it's even better when they happen to someone who gives so much back to the club and its members.

Congratulations Gary on an incredible achievement. We hope it's a memory you'll cherish forever.

⛳ Captain vs President Day – Better Late Than Never! ⛳

Sorry for the delay in posting the results from this one, but what a day it was! If you missed it, you missed one of the standout days of the year. The weather was absolutely perfect for this time of year, the course was in sensational condition, and the scoring... well... some of it completely blew my mind. (I'm looking at you, Justin Poole! 👀) To top it all off, we even witnessed a hole in one from one of our favourite members.

The annual battle saw Captain Desmond Brunt's team of hacks take on President Daniel Engel's team of hacks in the ultimate bragging rights contest. Despite Captain Des boasting three of the day's best individual performers, the rest of his troops clearly forgot to turn up, with the President's Team claiming a convincing victory 1205 to 1169! Congratulations to President Daniel Engel and his merry band of hackers. 🏆

Our Player of the Day and A Grade winner was Blake Julin, who made 40 Stableford points look like a casual Sunday stroll around the course. Outstanding golf, Blake! A Grade runner-up was Warren Frost with an excellent 38 points.

Now for the result that nearly had me checking whether someone had hacked the scoring system... B Grade was won by none other than Justin "Plugga" Poole with a superb 38 Stableford points! Surely there must have been a typo? 🤣 Those sneaky Sunday on-course lessons must finally be paying off. Plugga only just held on after a countback from Greg Cake, who was desperately unlucky to miss out.

As if that wasn't enough excitement, Gary Downs stepped onto the second tee and produced the ultimate "drop the mic" moment, firing an incredible hole-in-one! 👏⛳ A fantastic achievement Gary, and one that will be talked about around the clubhouse for a long time to come. Congratulations!

Thanks to everyone who played and made it such a memorable day.

Now... if you want even more drama, make sure you book in for this Saturday's competition. Something tells me you won't want to be hearing about it after the fact. Don't let a serious case of FOMO set in... we'll see you on the tee! 😉⛳

What a week on the course!

Thursday Stableford Mulligans
After all that rain on Wednesday, the course was definitely playing a bit “squishy” underfoot, but that didn’t stop the fun! Thankfully the sun decided to show up later in the round and we finished in a bit more comfort.

Big congratulations to Maureen Bishop, who took out the win with a fantastic 38 Stableford points off her 43 handicap, just edging out Loretta Booth on a countback after they both finished on the same score. So close!

A special shout-out to Lola Carter, who clearly had her A-game on! She snagged an amazing three Nearest the Pins AND finished in style with a birdie on the 18th. What a finish!

Tuesday 9 hole Competition
A great effort from everyone on Tuesday, with Evelyn Graske coming out on top with 18 Stableford points off her 21 handicap, and she had to go to countback to get the win over Heather Ware. Well played, ladies!

Another fun week of golf, plenty of laughs, and some great shots out there!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Yallourn Golf Club clubhouse will be closed today. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

⛳ Good news for golfers: The course remains open, and Green Fee players can still play today by using our Vendi Tap & Go system located at the clubhouse entrance to pay your green fees.

🏌️ The clubhouse will reopen tomorrow from 11:00am, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back then.

⛸️❄️ Saturday 4BBB Stableford – Skating Through the Wind at Yallourn Golf Club! ⛳

It was a cold, blustery day at Yallourn Golf Club for this week's Saturday 4BBB Stableford. Thankfully, while the wind was biting, it did at least keep the rain off the course. Those who laced up and ventured out certainly earned their score today!

There was one pairing, however, that made the tough conditions look like a perfectly choreographed ice dance. Their chemistry was pure Torvill and Dean as they glided around the course in flawless fashion. ⛸️✨

A huge congratulations to Adam Chester and W***y Dow, who pirouetted their way to an outstanding 45 Stableford points to comfortably claim the 4BBB honours. Adam has been producing some wonderfully consistent golf of late... although the back nine has often been a little like skating on thin ice! W***y, meanwhile, was looking to bounce back after a score he'd rather leave frozen in last weekend's history books. Put the two together and it was absolute poetry in motion—a gold medal performance!

In the individual Stableford competition, Richard Murphy proved he had the sharpest blades of the day, taking out Player of the Day with 37 Stableford points. Remarkably, Richard was one of only two players to play to their handicap, highlighting just how testing the conditions really were.

Congratulations to all our winners, and to everyone who braved the elements—you all deserve a warm drink after battling those icy winds.

Anyway... enough about today's on-course shambles. Let's all dust ourselves off, sharpen the skates, and hope for a little less figure skating and a little more fairway finding next week! ⛳😂
