Public Announcement - this Saturday, 7th of December, between 9am and 12 noon, there will be a whole lot of little bikers racing around the Sports Park. This includes the Shared Use trail, as well as the single-track MTB paths that form part of the Indigo Epic.

These trails will not be formally closed, but we ask that you respect that these are junior riders in a race, and provide a bit of space.

Hello Yack Kobbos Community,
We need your help!
It’s coming up to that time of year again whereby we see the Yack leg of the Shifty Fifty Mountain Bike Series - presented by Big Hill Events, roll into Yack and its famous MTB Trails for a double header weekend on Saturday & Sunday of April 6/7.

We need Marshals to help on either the Saturday or the Sunday or Both days.
Helpers will be paid $50 per head per day of help and many track marshal roles only require your assistance for 3hours or so and few others are less and a few are longer in time.

The Lobbos could generate some much needed dollars to get some need first aid kits and I trictional aids for Kobbos.

I’m hoping as Kobbos, we can supply a group of willing hands, and use the event to raise funds for the Kobbos group! It’s fun and easy and you can sleep happily knowing you contributed to a fantastic event that pumps a decent amount of business in the local town and region in the form of spending by competing visitors.

Please get involved as the event needs helpers.

It’s BACK again for 2024 at the Wombat State Forest. This is an amazing day on the bike exploring these classic trails.

Today saw a selection of Yack kids compete at Falls Creek in the State Inter-school MTB XC Championships.

The kids did very well and all supported each other and should be very proud of their results:
Yack primary got 2nd in the state!
Yack - punching well above its weight again.

Tomorrow sees a selection of families head to Thredbo NSW for the National Inter-school Championships.
Weather was awesome.

Results today were:

If you look at the video Lou took below, you will see the kids rally around Hunter after he finished his first race…
Such a great group of kids with a real sense of team spirit.

Also… the parents got to race at the end and some took up the challenge… was a fast 2km sprint with lots of smiles and fun!

**A call for assistance please**
Kobbos, Yobbos, Slobbos from the Yack cycling community

Hi All,

Next Saturday December 9 is the Alpine Junior Series MTB race in Yack.
We need some volunteers and hoping to find some here.

We require:
4 people on Friday (Dec8) arvo 5-530ish for about an hour to help Col set the course for the following mornings races.

8 adults on Saturday (Dec 9) to undertake course Marshalling.
4 adults from 730am to finish setting things up and bunt off the topcar park etc …

It’s a fun morning that is normally done and dusted by 12noon.
Races start 9.
Finish around 11:30 (end of marshalling) followed by presentations where a couple to hang about and help pack up is always useful.

If you or your kiddo is curious about this fun side of MTBiking, consider coming along. It is very family friendly, social and is not over competitive for those that want to give it a go or just have a look.

Please reply here if you can assist on either day or both and please know that if you say yes for the Saturday, that we will be reliant upon this commitment.

Hi all
Kobbos kids MTB session tomorrow (Sat 4/11) for those who haven’t decided to go away and make a long weekend of the horse race holiday

3pm
Yack Trail head
Thinking we could do similar to last time for the little ones … as this seemed to get good feedback

For the older kids we will see how many we get - parent riders here always needed!
If we have low numbers for the older kids maybe we can shuttle with a few cars to the top of the epic and ride down and back

Awesome weather ! And apparently the tracks are in fantastic condition
Also, I am told that the new and improved trail to town from the trail head is in perfect condition to ride for those that want to ride back to town afterward …

Be sure to bring water!!!! And helmet and gloves 🧤
Lolly Snakes will be on the go at the end!

There is also a trail maintenance crew meeting at 8am tomorrow morning at the trail head to do a bit of light work on The Homeward Bound track… feel free to bring a rake and come along
Always a bit of fun and doesn’t go for too long either … and who doesn’t love the feeling of giving back 😎😉😂

See you tomorrow I hope … spring has fully sprung and the weather is too good for the bikes not to roll!

Hi All
A worthy post for todays epic day of kids MTB racing and riding!
First race of the Cyclepath Alpine Junior MTB Series held at Bright and the Kobbos of Yack Tracks punched well above their weight. Cross country event today saw some awesome results and lots of smiles.
- Under 7 girls - 1st
- Under 7 boys - 5th
- Under 9 boys - 2nd
- under 9 girls - 7th
- Under 11 boys - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 13th, 23rd from 32 starters!
- Under 13 boys - 6th
- Under 15 boys - 6th including significant mechanical malfunction!
I hope haven’t missed anyone
A great haul of team points and we have some real mountain bike talent in Yack!
Congratualtions team!

This afternoon saw the fortnightly Kobbos kids descend on Yack tracks… about 25 in total for lots of blood sweat and smiles and lolly snakes at the end. Heartening to see the kids help each other over all the challenging obstacles and skills sessions.
Momentum is truly building in this group and it couldn’t happen without the help of some great parents!
