🐴 Seniors morning tea at the Lodge🐴

Friday mornings, 10 till 12. Morning tea, a cuppa and a couple of hours with the horses.

There's no set program. Some people brush the horses or lead one around the yard. Others are happy in a chair in the shade watching. Both are a good morning.

No riding and no experience needed. Level access, seating and shade, toilets on site, and room for a village bus to turn around. Walkers and wheelchairs welcome. We also welcome the Companion Card... if you hold one, your companion comes along free.

Retirement village groups, senior citizens clubs, Probus groups, or just a few friends who feel like a drive out. $30 a head, morning tea included.

🐴NDIS support work at Yarraman Lodge🐴

Now taking new participants... on our property and out in the community.

We're a horse property on the Central Coast with a team of therapy horses and a job list that never quite ends.

At the property - participants work alongside our support workers doing the things that actually need doing: mucking out, grooming, washing rugs, painting fences, mowing, weeding, gardening, high pressure hosing, or leading a horse down the drive on a good blue-sky morning. There's also four acres of our own bush running into the state forest, for the days when what someone needs is a walk and some quiet.

Out in the community - other days we're off the property altogether. The headland. The wildlife park. Appointments, shops, outings and the ordinary business of getting out into the world with someone patient beside you.

Because real skills are built doing real things. Not role-playing them.

What we support:
🐴 Daily living and life skills
🐴 Community, social and recreational access
🐴 Employment readiness and work skills
🐴 Support through life stages and transitions
🐴 Assistance with self care and personal routines

Who you'll be working with:
Our support workers are neurofriendly... many are neurodivergent themselves and most are parents. They know a hard day isn't a behaviour and that progress doesn't run to a schedule. They work alongside our team of equine assisted therapists, so what happens in a therapy session and what happens on a Tuesday morning shift aren't two separate worlds.

Patient, practical people. Good horses. Fresh air. Somewhere to actually be.

Because everyone should have somewhere they're needed.

Today we continued our men’s equine-assisted learning program, building on the first session with more hands-on involvement with the herd. Participants continued learning about horse communication and behaviour whilst building familiarity and confidence.

The group then shifted into a practical project, working together on the installation of a new electric fence to support safe grazing access on adjoining land. This project required teamwork, problem-solving and coordination, with participants taking on different roles throughout the task.

The group response to the practical work was noticeably strong, with increased engagement, collaboration and willingness to take initiative within the shared task.

Grateful to the herd for their ongoing guidance and to the participants for their involvement and effort.

Connection doesn't always need words. Sometimes it shows up in presence, patience and shared space with horses.

Today we welcomed the first participants in our new men's equine-assisted recovery program. The morning focused on meeting the herd, learning about horse communication, understanding safety around horses and building awareness... awareness of how the horses are responding to one another and to us, and of how we are feeling in their presence.

One of the most powerful learning moments came from observing the connection between two herd members and noticing how horses regulate through connection, proximity and safety. It was wonderful to see genuine curiosity, engagement and some very big smiles while grooming horses and learning new skills.

We are looking forward to seeing where this journey leads over the coming months. A huge thank you to our horses for being such incredible teachers.

After two big days holding space, listening deeply and supporting our clients, the herd is taking a well-earned rest. There’s something so beautiful about seeing them fully relax together in the paddock... peaceful, safe, and restoring their own nervous systems too. These quiet moments remind us that rest is part of the work. 🐴✨
