Damian Carey and Hayley Roberts have made AUSTRALIAN MIRROR CLASS HISTORY winning the 2025/26 NSW Mirror Class State Titles, adding to their Victorian and South Australian titles in one season. This backs up a stellar season for the team having also won the Australian Championship in Wynyard, Tasmania.
Damian and Hayley, sailing Molly M, sailed consistently to the finish of the second round of the states held at Team Slmasc as part of their annual regatta. To add to their performance, the two also won the regatta on Yardstick against a fleet of 55 mixed boats.
In 2nd place, a very well sailed Transom Note, sailed by Nick & Alfie Goldsmith, which pushed Molly M in every race, clinching a heat win after sailing particularly fast off the wind in heat 4. Nick & Alfie also finished the SLMASC regatta in 2nd place on Yardstick.
3rd place went to Yellow Submarine, sailed by last seasons state champions Sarah & Emily Roberts, which sailed fast at time to lead but struggled in the lighter winds.
It was pleasing to see Ruth Morton making the trip up from Victoria to sail with Ben Roberts, enjoying the sailing condition & best of Lake Macquarie.
The mirror sailors in NSW continue to encourage families and happily cheered on our youngest crews, Noah & Herb who forged a solid friendship at the Lake.
With a Mirror World Championship to be hosted by Western Australia in 2029, this is a class to race.
