Club Shamble Orderly and Well Organised.

This weekend we had our club Shamble day, which while threatened every year for the last few we've never actually got around to doing. For those that don't know, a Shamble is when pairs or fours both hit a drive, choose the best drive then each play from that drive and choose the best score.

Round three of Championships yesterday, congratulations to former local player and past captain Kerran Furniss who had a great, although ultimately futile* round with 77 off the stick. Paul Trenorden second with 96, and currently in the overall lead. Last place Chris Loton which seemed somewhat cruel to announce on a normal club day?

Novelty for longest putt on 18 went to Russell Wells.

Champs are still wide open, final round and Smith cup coming up on August 30th.

*futile as Russell Wells has ruled Kerran ineligible for champs due to either long held animosity or that he hasn't played enough rounds to qualify.

Late results from Sunday's Stableford round.
Vice Captain Glen Metcalfe won the 18 hole competition, in a good round capped off with a birdie from a 40m chip holing out on number 14 (other side of the creek), ending up with 37 pts.
Followed closely by runner up Chris Loton (32) and way, way back in third Paul Trenorden( 31) .

The nine hole competition was once again taken by Cassie Stratford (22), followed by Tzarina Loton taking second.

We added an extra day this year to celebrate our centenary, with another 45 golfers taking part in Saturday’s 4B Combined competition.

Right off the bat, congratulations to Gillam Jones, who broke our ***course record*** with 68 off the stick, the previous record of 69 standing since 1978.

Over 100 people filled the clubhouse on day two for awards and presentations, including life members Robert Hammond, Lyn Jones and Lola Maitland.

What a great couple of days for Wyalkatchem over the weekend.

Due to the sheer number of results and a couple of record breakers I’m going to split the two day event into two posts.
Before we get into it, the Wyalkatchem Golf Club committee would like to extend our most sincere thanks to the Wyalkatchem community, who came together and put on a huge show for our centenary celebrations. If we were to list the volunteers who spent time on the course, sent in casseroles, and helped in any way we’d save some time by getting the phone book out- none of this would have been possible without all of you.

It would be remiss of me to not say right out of the gate congratulations to Matthew Maitland, who achieved a hole in one on hole one, the first time in the clubs history that this hole has been aced.

112 starters hit off for our annual ambrose day, a good mix of locals and travellers for a sunny day of golf. We were thrilled to have Golf WA CEO Aaron Minchin make the trip up to play (and Regional Club Support Officer Scott Ballantyne, but he’s basically a local now) and present a plaque from our friends at Royal Perth Golf Club commemorating the day.
We were also honoured to have so many special guests, past and present members and friends of the club join us.

Thanks to Royal Perth Golf Club for donating our new bins and ball washers, they've been installed and our greens keeper Fred Butt has refurbished the ball washers beautifully.
