Gambier Centrals have booked their place in the 2026 Barry Maney Premier League Senior Women’s Grand Final, defeating Blue Lake 1–0 after extra time in a tense and hard‑fought semi final at MGA Park.

The Lions controlled large periods of the match, building pressure through sustained possession and territory, but Blue Lake defended stubbornly and the sides remained locked at 0–0 after 90 minutes. Centrals continued to push in extra time, and the breakthrough finally arrived in the 101st minute when Patience Taipiha found space and finished clinically to send the orange and navy into the decider.

Blue Lake received the only caution of the match, with Darcey Allen booked in the 62nd minute, but otherwise both sides battled cleanly in a fiercely contested finals encounter.

This result caps off a composed and disciplined performance from the Lions, who showed patience, resilience, and belief when the match tightened late. The group now turns its focus to the biggest stage of the season.

The Lions will face Apollo in next Saturday’s Grand Final, with everything on the line. Centrals have shown strength, grit, and unity throughout the season — and now have one final hurdle standing between them and the 2026 Premiership.

Centrals booked their rightful place in the Grand Final with a hard‑fought 1–0 extra‑time victory over Blue Lake at MGA Park. After a tense 90 minutes without a breakthrough, Patience Taipiha delivered the decisive moment deep into extra time to send the Lions through.
