Mount Gambier Golf Club is open to the public and visitors. Established in 1909, it is located on the northern edge of the city on what was once rolling sand hills. Elevated tees on many holes provide breathtaking view on the Mount Gambier Centenary Tower. The bar is open Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Alternatively, refreshments are available at the Pro Shop. The club welcomes everyone for delicious meals fortnightly on Fridays. Bookings essential.

Friday Night Members Draw

This Friday will see the Members draw back to $1000!!! No winner in the club last week means we are back up to $1000 and with meals available, we are in for a big night at the club.

Get the family together or grab some mates and head on up to the club for what should be a cracking night.

If you can, please book to assist with catering. Happy Hour runs between 5 - 7pm, with the draw at 7pm!!!

LADIES GOLF REPORT – FINAL MONTHLY MEDAL, PUTTING &
STABLEFORD EVENT AT MGGC.

19 Ladies teed off last Wednesday competing in a final of the Monthly Medals, Putting and
a Stableford Event on a cold and showery day with the Course playing fairly and true.
Taking out 1st place in Division 1 was long hitting and enthusiastic Golfer Janina Morrison
(Handicap 20) registering 48/45=93 Gross=Nett 73. Janina had 8 Pars on her Scorecard
with a blemish on the difficult Par 5, 7th Hole. Over the past month Janina has consistently
been in the winning circles.
Losing on a Count-Back to Janina was another long hitter Trudy Johnson (Handicap 16)
with 43/46=89 Gross=Nett 73. Trudy scored a Birdie on the 8th, Par 3 Hole and also
recorded 4 Pars. Trudy won the Medal of Medals trophy with her win. Congratulations
Trudy.
2nd Division placing in 1st place another long hitter Mary Kentish (Handicap 31) with a very
consistent score of 52/53=105 Gross = Nett 74.
2nd placing in Div. 2 was long-time/Loyal Member Lois Harvey (Handicap 35) with
55/58=113 Gross = Nett 78. Lois had a good score on the Par 3’s 6th and 16th Holes.
6 Ladies received a ball in the ball run-down from Di O’Donnell (Nett 75) down to Chris
Morrison Nett 81 on a Count -Back.
The Pro Shot was won by Trudy Johnson and the Best 2nd Shot on the Par 4, 5th Hole went
to A Grade (again) Trudy Johnson, B Grade Heather Teakle and C Grade Maxine
McGregor.
13 Ladies opted to play the more forgiving Stableford competition with new and keen
Member Janine Reid (Handicap 36) taking out 1st place on a three-way count-back with 29
points.
Janine had a consistent 14/15=29 points with 5 three pointers in her round.
2 balls were given out to Lyndal McInerney and Bev Pedlar both with 29 points also.

Next Wednesday we will be playing an Ambrose competition, proceeds to go to the Breast
Cancer Organisation. It will be a fun day with an extended invitation going out to any new
golfers and visitors, all will be welcomed. Hoping to see you there on the day.

SATURDAY LADIES GOLFING REPORT.

Due to very high winds and heavy rain only 6 intrepid Ladies competed in the September
Monthly Medal/Putting Event at the MGGC last Saturday.
Scoring proved very difficult with Helen Gregory (Handicap 18) overcoming the extreme
conditions taking out 1st place on a count-back. Helen recorded 47/51=98=Nett 80. Helen
had Pars on the 4th and 8th Holes.
Losing the count-back was Val Grubb (Handicap 22) coming in 2nd placing with a score of
46/55=101-=Nett 80. Val recorded Pars on the 8th/9th Holes.
NTP was won by Chris Morrison. Faye Mainwaring, Janina Morrison and Chris Morrison
won a ball in the ball run-down

2026 Men's Handicap Matchplay Championship

The draw has been finalised for the top 32 in the 2026 Men's Handicap Matchplay Championships.

Sunday, 13th September will see the Round of 32 matches played in the morning with the winners going through to the Round of 16 in the afternoon.

Morning tee times have been booked, all players should have received an email with their allocated tee time but if not log onto the Members Portal to see your tee time

LADIES REPORT FROM MGGC – MYSTERY PAIRS EVENT.

37 Ladies competed in a Mystery Pairs event, generously sponsored by Leanne Hunt and Vicki Clark.
The weather was a great day for playing golf, although the Course was set up tough thus making scoring points difficult.
Pairs were drawn randomly and the Winners were very fortunate in being chosen together as they
both had the best scores of the day. Taking out 1st place were the pairing of Helen McIntyre
(Handicap 23) and Janina Morrison (Handicap 20) with Stableford points = 38/36=74 points. Helen
had an amazing 24 points on the Front Nine after coming off the Back Nine very despondent with
only 14 points. What a come-back. Janina complimented Helen with a Birdie on the 10th, Par 3 Hole
earning 4 points and her split was 17/19=36 points.
The 2nd placing was the pairing of Sharran Waters (Handicap 33) and Faye Mainwaring
(Handicap15) and they had a combined total of 64 points. Sharran ‘s split was 22/11=33 points
earning 4 points on the 8th ,Par 3 Hole while Faye scored 14/17=31 points.
10 Balls were handed out in the ball run-down and went to Linda Boylan and Bev Pedlar 60 points
down to Gail Stephenson and Jennifer Van Rijthoven 56 points.
Gail Stephenson won the Pro Shot on the 8th, Par 3 Hole earning three balls.
Val Grubb won the prize for Hitting the Most Fairways (13).

SATURDAY RESULTS FOR THE LADIES STABLEFOD PAIR EVENT.

Last Saturday 19 Ladies competed in a Stableford Aggregate Pairs team Event played in ideal
weather with the Course in good condition and the Greens running very fast.
The pairing of Carol Smith (Handicap 26) and Faye Mainwaring (Handicap 15) were the Winners
for the day with a combined score of 70 Points. Carol’s split was 16/18=34 points and Faye’s split
was 17/19-36 points. Faye had a Birdie on the 18th Hole and between them 5 three pointers.
In 2nd placing was the pairing of Janina Morrison (Handicap 20) and Trudy Johnson (Handicap 16)
with a combined total of 64 Points. Janina’s split was 14/17=31 points and Trudy’s split was
19/14=33 Points. Between the two they registered 9 three pointers.
Two pairs received a ball each in the ball run-down and went to Jan Shanahan/Heather Chapman
and Helen Gregory/Yvonne Shirley.
Trudy Johnson won the NTP shot on the Par 3, 8th Hole.

2026 Mens Handicap Matchplay Championship

With the two qualifying rounds done, the top 32 qualifiers for the Mens 2026 Handicap Matchplay Championships have been decided. Please see the attched list of qualifiers and dates for the playoff rounds, if you are not available please contact John in the Pro Shop before this Saturday so the draw can be finalised.

Draw will be released once finalists have been confirmed with the Round of 32 scheduled for Sunday morning, 13th September.
