Grant Johnson - Renovating the Temple

Grant Johnson - Renovating the Temple Personal trainer and group fitness specialist.

Qualifications:
Cert 3 & 4 in Fitness
Strength & Conditioning Coach
Master Functional Training Practitioner
98 Academy Certified All through my 20's and 30's I've worked in an office environment and as many do you get caught up in the cycle and culture of sitting al day, smoking, drinking excessively and generally eating poor choices. Hitting 40 was huge for me and made me take stock of what I had done in my life so far and what did I want my future to look like. As a performer (bass player) in a few bands I was photographed regularly and although seeing myself performing was a pleasure, I always felt let down by how I appeared. Something had to change because I could no longer kid myself that I'm invincible or immune from health problems as I age if I didn't start taking care of myself. I love my wife and family more than anything and I want to be around for the long haul with them and able to be a contributor and not a curse. As the old saying goes "My body is a temple" but mine was in need of some serious renovations because years of trashing it had bent me right out of shape both physically and mentally. I hope anyone joining this page gets something out of it or can share with a loved one who needs to connect with someone who has been through it because that's the person I want to be going forward. Having been through this I am learning all about the science behind what I've achieved and I am now a fully qualified Personal Trainer. I've completed my certificate 3&4 in Fitness and am actively working as a Personal and group fitness trainer at Anytime Fitness Engadine, MMAXFIT Botany, Forte Fitness Woronora and also under my own business "Renovating The Temple" in locations around Engadine and Woronora Heights. I believe I can help fill in the missing pieces of this health and fitness puzzle which we can find so confusing at times. With thousands of different diets, exercise plans, super foods, shakes and supplements buzzing around, I believe I can help clear the confusion and set my future clients on the path to better health and fitness.

Been a while since we hit a new PB for back squat. Today I could say was one of those days I woke up “feeling it”. I knew testing day was coming, visualized how and what I was going to do from warm ups through to the attempt and then when it came time, I felt confident that today was going to be different to previous blocks. I won’t lie, I was starting to feel a little frustrated and wondering if I had hit my ceiling and was almost accepting that. That becomes a dangerous mindset sometimes as it starts to place limitations on what you work for. Whilst it’s a small win, it’s an import one that now has me pumped to aim up and go again.
Old PB was 190kg and this had stood for at least 18 months.
Today we somewhat ignored the percentages and just picked building weights to give me a fair shot at 192.5kg.
Set 1: 5 x 100kg
Set 2: 3 x 130kg
Set 3: 2 x 160kg
Set 4: 1 x 175kg
Set 5: 1 x 185kg
Set 6: 1 x 192.5kg 🏆 +2.5kg
Now we reset and go again with eyes on 195.

Ahhh Bentley. You came into our home and lives somewhat unexpectedly 6 months ago. I’ve never really been a dog person. I’ve been more team cat than team dog most of my life, but in the short time you were part of my family and household, you managed to imprint a big part of yourself into our hearts. Yesterday after a fair 12 and a half year innings, your beautiful big heart that gave so much love became too exhausted and you crossed over to pupper heaven. Rest easy big dog. I’m going to miss our walks, our gym support pupper, or just sitting out the back garden with you having a chat and a pat. Good boy Bentley. ❤️
