Below is the current timetable and kids timetable which will be starting in term one.

Current members your membership will continue over to the new business.

Hello everyone,

Here is our new timetable, effective Monday 11th January 2021.
Our 7pm grappling class now starts at 5pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
We also have a new morning class, MMA conditioning, on Tuesday and Thursday at 7am.
Kids classes will also commence Term 1 on Febuary 2nd and we will post that timetable seperately.
2021 has already begun so come join us at the gym!

Happy New Year everyone.

2020 was an interesting year for everyone and it was particularly challenging for myself.

For those that know me or don't my name is Kyle Montgomery and I own and operate Southern MMA.

The small club that started with Terry Williams has built up over time and I took over and started the business in February 2017. Within two years I had grown the business into the great community it is today and I was excited of the prospect of the future.

1 month later in March on Friday the 29th 2019 I had a catastrophic accident which left me completely paralyzed and I became a quadriplegic.

Terry asked me if I wished to use the rest of the savings to pay out the rest of the lease on the business and end it all. I felt that I wanted to keep it going so I had something to look forward to when I got home from hospital.

2019 was a very difficult year for me and I was looking forward to 2020 so that I could start my life again.
In February 2020 I managed to start coming back to the gym and I was coaching again.

Covid hit and I was set back again in my life and after being isolated in a hospital for a year I had to go back into isolation again.

I was happy when the restrictions were lifted and I was able to start moving on again. However with each passing week and month I couldn't get past the sadness and grief that I could no longer really take part in the sport and business that I loved.

I secretly planned to close the business after the year was finished and give up on martial arts for good.

Now instead the business will transition to new management and the gym will continue. All the classes you currently know and love will continue under a new guidance.

After 17 years of Boxing, Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Kudo and Sambo I retire never completing a black belt in either art.

For our members I hope you continue to grow and learn martial arts under the new guidance of our new management.

The new head coach is Aaron Nieborak who was the one who started me on my martial arts career and has a wealth of experience in fighting knowledge.

Our secondary coaches James and Aaron will continue to carry out Jiujitsu and Boxing classes.

Kids classes will still continue starting in term one.

I wish everyone the best in 2021. I wish I could be there to continue and grow the gym but my circumstances are out of my control.

I can't thank everyone enough who has been with me since the beginning. I never would have dreamed this being my fate, I'm sorry.
