Enjoyed a great training night with some new students. Worked on the basics of kicking, punching, stances and walking form, and finished with some practical work on Naihanchin Sho Waza. Looking forward to next week and more progress.

Very proud of both Teagan and Sam on their gradings tonight. Sam was one of my original students, and went through to 1st Kyu with us at Kazoku Dojo before moving to Brisbane at 15. Teagan has been with Kazoku Dojo since she started in 2011.

Both have been awarded Shodan Ho - probationary black belt. Sam will perform demonstrations next year at National Camp, whereas Teagan, as Shorinjiryu Koshinkai's 1st Junior Black Belt, will have to wait until she is 16 to perform her demonstrations. WhooHoo 🎉👏🏼

What a fantastic National Camp we had at Bribie Island last weekend. It was so great to catch up with our family from other States and across Qld. We have all returned home with renewed vitality!

Congratulations to Sensei Anne on her promotion to Nidan. We are very proud of her.

If you are considering karate lessons for yourself or your child, what better time to join than now? Consider that knowing just one technique of self-defense may save your child from fates such as that of Bride-to-be Stephanie, or young child William.

We are a heavily female dojo, however would love the input of some more young gents. And if you are an adult, we encourage you to join as well. You are never too old, as Sensei Anne (aged 70) shows us.

Wonderful effort by the 3 lovely ladies who graded. Congrats to Annabelle and Teagan for their promotion to 1st Kyu.

Sunday 7th Dec 2014 - members from Kazoku in Murgon, Shishikan in Brisbane and from the local Seiryukan dojo on Bribie Island, attended the last Shorinjiryu Koshinkai Karate training clinic for 2014.

Tasshi Tony took the group through Nijushiho kata focusing on the technical aspects. Everyone got the chance to demonstrate especially those grading and the lesson culminated in Sensei Leanne showing us all her technical skill as she performed the kata for the cameras.

Kyoshi Jim and Tasshi Tony then took everyone through the Gokyo Kumite concentrating on the Five (5) Te Waza's, Dai Ikkyo - Nikyo - Sankyo - Yonkyo and Gokyo.

Kyoshi Jim finished the days training leading the group through one of his favourite kata's, Sanchin. Time was spent understanding the moves, paying particular attention to Ashi Sabaki (footwork) of the kata. A very interesting lesson.

Throughout the day, students got the chance to "volunteer" and demonstrate in front of Kyoshi Jim, Shihan Lesley and Tasshi Tony, what they learnt in the lessons.

The day finished off with a Mudansha grading seeing Teagan Divljak and Annabelle Dennien from the Kazoku Dojo being promoted to 1st Kyu and Naomi Delacy from the Shishikan Dojo being promoted to 7th Kyu.

A great days training enjoyed by all, finishing off a great year in our Shorinjiryu Koshinkai family.

Thank you to all the students for your enthusiastic effort during 2014. You make it all worth while. A thank you to the Instructors as well, for working tirelessly in your chosen art, keeping up with your learning, teaching your students and supporting the organisation.
