Arte Suave meaning, “the gentle art” in Portuguese, was created in October 2014 with the primary objective of providing a holistic combination of fitness, health and mindfulness to the practice of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Our philosophy is to provide you with all the tools necessary to enhance your growth as an individual and martial artist. Arte Suave features:
• A flexible timetable allowing indivi

duals and families to train together, during or after work hours. We are always looking at ways to add to and improve our classes to suit members.
• Facilities to make life easier for those with busy lives, i.e. showers, well stocked bathrooms, towels, Gi's for hire, ironing equipment, hairdryer, straightening iron, hanging space for work clothes.
• An array of the highest quality training gear and clothing as well as healthy food products.
• A great team of teachers as well as regular guest instructors from all over Australia and the world for members. Arte Suave provides students with the support they need to achieve their goals in BJJ while enhancing their fitness and fortitude. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is based on a curriculum created by our: Anker Fuglsang, Uroš Čulić, Nic Barker, James Woontoon, Sergio Costabile and Emanuela D'Annibale. Harnessing their experience and expertise enables us to provide a thorough, finely tuned system of teaching BJJ that can accommodate all levels, sizes and ages. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for Kids (starting from 2 years) is set a little differently to our normal classes. Let by our team of highly skilled instructors, the classes are designed to teach not just Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but also; self-defense, confidence, discipline, listening skills, the ability to work under pressure and motivation as well as to encourage them with healthy competition. This will not only help them in class, but in every day life. We have a conditioning area available to use for all of our members, including a squat rack, kettlebells, monkey bars and a reverse hyper. All our members get free access to the Bulletproof for BJJ program which they can do in house or at home. Our Yoga focuses on flexibility, posture, mindfulness, rejuvenation and strength and will improve both your Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and overall health. Relaxation, meditation and clearing the mind are important aspects of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Please note, because of limited space, yoga classes are only available for BJJ students. See you soon!! 👊🏽 3rd Dan Black Belt, graded through Rocinha Jiu Jitsu in Rio de Janeiro — the first non-local to receive such a high grading from the favela academy. He has been training and spending time in Rocinha since 2005.
👊🏽 Australia’s first Aboriginal Black Belt (awarded by Pete DeBeen in 2016)
👊🏽 Founder of Clifton Hill Jiu Jitsu — Australia’s longest-running not-for-profit Jiu Jitsu club, and the first Aboriginal-led academy
👊🏽 President of Coreeda (Aboriginal Wrestling)
👊🏽 Over 20 years of social work within Aboriginal communities
👊🏽 Chris has delivered numerous free seminars across Australia, using Jiu Jitsu as a way to connect, support, and give back to community.

The reason this seminar is free is to allow Chris to share the concept of Aboriginal leadership and provide an opportunity for the wider community to experience and learn from a different perspective on Aboriginality.
