NEW BARBELL CLUB TIMETABLE

Some big changes to the Barbell Club structure have occurred, with the major one being the addition of Olympic Weightlifting.

Excited is an understatement. Being able to properly add weightlifting into the class routine has been a goal of ours for sometime.

In saying that, we do have 4 spots left in the OBC, 2 of which we would love to fill with weightlifters.

It's official.

After 5 years I will be hanging my PT hat up at Goodlife and taking a massive step forward in my career by coming on as a coach at Below Parallel.

It was and was not an easy decision for me to make. As much as Goodlife as a brand doesn't align with my values, the members, staff, and friends I have met through my time there will be sorely missed.

With that said, I am excited about being in an environment surrounded by high-level coaches with values that are more like my own, which in turn, will further drive my skill set and knowledge as a coach.

I will be in and out of Goodlife til the end of my contract in September, but now taking new 1 on 1 and group clients through Below Parallel.

Seeing how far you have to go can either add fuel to the motivation fire or be so daunting it stops you in your tracks.

Having goals so big they make you uneasy isn't bad, but focusing solely on that big goal stops you from seeing the pleasure in the process and daily wins.

Awesome day of lifting with the homies.

The thing I miss most about competing / training in a strength sport is that feeling you get when you lift something you previously thought was impossible. The rituals you go through to hype yourself up and that one moment of utter balls to the wall focus.

I haven't lifted any serious weight in a while, but I'm starting to realise with coaching, you get to live that exact feeling time and time again when your clients see success. And f**k it feels good.

A few shots from the first Optimise Strength Meet of 2022.

Thankyou to all the lifters who came and gave it their all. Meant alot to have you lift under our guidance and care.

Big shout out to the volunteers and the folks at , couldn't have done it without you.





My goal with these meets is to give the lifters a taste of what a real powerlfiting competition entails. Our next meet will be ran around 16 weeks from now, if you're interested in competing, let us know.

The Optimise Barbell Club was created for two purposes, to increase your strength in the 3 big lifts and to place you in an environment where you can share your wins with people who care.

Failure is a bitter sweet experience.

To be successful in any endeavour, you must be able to shift towards a more growth driven mindset, were failures are seen as a learning experience, that will allow you to make slight adjustments to the plan in place for a better result next time.

Not performing your best on the day you planned to, can easily be put down to it just being an "off day", but ask yourself.

How could have your nutrition been better in the lead up?

How can I improve my ability to recover?

How can you be better adapt to handling the stress of competition?

Asking these type of questions puts the power back in your hands, and allows for answers that will result in future growth.

If you struggle adopting this mindset, you are not alone and we would love to help.

Ran with the same structure as a powerlifting meet, minus the pressure that can sometimes come with the competitive atmosphere, we aim to give you a taste of what a real powerlfiting meet would be like.
