In recognition of Reconciliation Round, our Premier League Reserves and AMND teams wore a dress designed in 2023 by Damien and Nara Weber. 💙🤍

The beautiful and meaningful design speaks for itself, below is the story behind the art.

“This piece of artwork represents some of the aboriginal community guidelines and philosophies that first nations communities held in high regard as to keeping the land, the community and the culture safe. The five stars represent five points of these philosophies living in the Australian environment. For thousands of years the first nations people were passed on stories from generation to generation. This is so that each generation would gain knowledge on ways to treat and survive in Australia’s harsh conditions, conservation of species and the natural world. Everything is treated with respect and so everything keeps its balance and gives back to communities. In order to keep the environment and people well fed and happy you must have laws and rules minimising conflict in human relations. In Australia that meant laws and rules to not only treat people with respect but also for the country in order to give back to the community, ensuring the continuation of the conditions of survival and everything deserves respect.
The stories passed on are like the knowledge and skills which are passed on from the Senior players and teams right down through to Net Set Go.
Respect and minimising conflict is transferred from the Jets Committee to all the players / umpires / coaches and parents. Netball is a team sport and on the court there is always a level of respect held for the opposing teams and players every game.
The Kaurna Shield (Murlapaka) was traditionally used in Ceremony and as protection during confrontation and has been used in this artwork as a reminder that we are on Kaurna Land.”
