We’re excited to share another awesome step in Declan’s football journey! ⚽️

Declan has been invited to join EVO Football’s U11 Boys squad for their 2026 Gold Coast Tour this September! ✈️🌴

This is a fantastic opportunity for Declan to experience tournament football interstate, play with new teammates, meet different coaches, take on new opposition and just enjoy being out there playing football.

Having been part of Yanchep United for nearly six years, it’s so good to see all the hard work, dedication and love for the game paying off and opening up new opportunities for him.

We’re super proud to see our players taking these opportunities and continuing to grow, develop and enjoy their football — both at YUFC and beyond. ❤️💙

Congratulations Declan! Go out there, enjoy the experience, give it your all and most importantly, have a ball! ⚽️👏

A great reminder that player development is about more than football. ⚽️

Effort, kindness, respect and resilience matter just as much as performance.

We want to develop better players, but more importantly, better people

My dad never cared about my school reports.

I would come home with terrible grades. Teachers saying I was easily distracted. Not academic. Not focused.

He never raised his voice about it. He would just look at the report, put it down, and ask me three questions.

"Are you trying your best? Are you being kind? Are you treating people with respect?"

If the answer was yes, he was happy. He did not care about the awards. He cared about the effort.

I look back on that now as a father of three boys, and I see he was right about so much. The academic stuff matters, but it is not what keeps you alive when the storm hits. Kindness, courage, and a refusal to give up. Those are the things that carry you through.

I feel sad that I never got the chance to thank him properly for that. But I try to tell my boys the same thing every day.

𝗨𝟭𝟴𝘀 | 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗚𝗔𝗠𝗘 🧠⚽
𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙚𝙧.

Throughout the season, our U18s have completed individual video analysis and self-reflection tasks designed to make them think deeper about their own development.

To finish the season, each player completed and presented a self-review based around the English FA Four Corner Model:

⚽ Technical / Tactical
🧠 Psychological
💪 Physical
🤝 Social

Players assessed themselves both in and out of possession, identified strengths and areas for improvement, and then presented their findings to teammates and coaching staff.

Why do we believe this matters?

→ Build emotional intelligence and understand that mistakes are part of development.
→ Encourage open and honest communication.
→ Develop players who can reflect, take ownership and understand their own game.
→ Build confidence speaking and presenting in front of others.
→ Develop life skills that extend well beyond football.

The effort and detail that went into the presentations was outstanding and showed how much this group has grown together throughout the season.

And importantly, this is a U18 project made up predominantly of 14–16 year olds.

A first season that has already produced:
⚡ 4 Reserve Team debuts
⚡ A 15-year-old goalkeeper training with the First Team
⚡ Strong foundations for what comes next

A massive thank you to 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 for his contribution to our U18 program throughout its first season. His time, knowledge and commitment to the development of this young group has played an important part in building the foundations of the program. 👏🏼

We’re continuing to refine the EVO Player Pathway to make every stage clearer, more purposeful and better aligned to the player in front of us.

From a player’s first experience in football through to our highest-performance environments, the pathway evolves as they do:

PLAY → Minis → Development Program → Academy → High Performance

As EVO continues to grow, the standard required to enter our Academy will also rise. 📈

Moving forward, fewer players will qualify for the Academy bracket, helping us create a more selective and competitive environment for players who are ready for that next level.

Within the Academy, players may develop through:

Across the eastern states, NPL and state league clubs have increasingly collaborated with academies to provide academy-style football models designed to give talented young players greater alignment between their training, coaching, playing philosophy and long-term development.

The reason is simple.

When curriculum, playing ethos and qualified coaching are connected, players have a clearer platform to maximise their potential.

Football development shouldn’t feel fragmented.

𝗘𝗩𝗢 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗵.

In partnership with Wanneroo City SC , we introduced our Academy-Club model in 2025. What began as a new direction for football development in WA enters its third year in 2027.

A genuine platform for ambitious players to develop.

Expressions of Interest are now open for U8-U14 Boys & Girls.

Places are limited. We are looking for advanced and exceptional young footballers who can add to an already strong core of players within the program.

Goalkeepers receive a dedicated half-day goalkeeper block and will join the outfield players for the other half of the camp experience.

Across the camps, players can expect academy coaching, skill development, tournaments, classroom learning and plenty of competitive football, plus 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗮𝗹 at Girrawheen! 🇧🇷⚽️
