Such an epic weekend from a coaching perspective…
One thing stands out from my coaching philosophy and that is solid consistent work really does pay off.
This is endurance sport which means building an engine with a physiology to suit takes time!
We have some big goals at MWT and we are not scared to tackle them, a beginner who has never run before tackling their first marathon is a huge task and we are getting there.

This is what I enjoy about coaching.. I have coached many professionals and elite sports people in my coaching career but seeing first timers achieve big goals is just as good as any victory.
has entered NY marathon this year and couldn’t even run 1km 6 weeks ago! We set a realistic goal of 1:10 and blew it out the water by 8min in the Clare 10km today.. huge step forward and a super proud coach.
Kon hit a PB 2:15 on a tough half marathon course in the middle of a training block today proving he is ready to take on his first marathon in Sydney later this year.
is a consistency machine and even though just starting her progression for some huge goals hit a PB 1:45 for the half Mara today also in the middle of her adaptation phase of training.
The crew did a great job and made me realise that they will all achieve their own goals in 26!

Progress from
Consistent running isn’t just about getting faster — it’s one of the most sustainable ways to achieve healthy weight loss.

Quick fixes and crash diets might shift the scale fast, but consistent training builds habits that actually last. When you run regularly, your body adapts by becoming more efficient at using energy, your metabolism stays elevated, and you burn calories without needing extreme restrictions.

The first few weeks might not show dramatic changes, but what is happening is powerful:
• Your aerobic engine is improving
• Your muscles are becoming more efficient
• Your body is learning to use fat as fuel
• Your routine is becoming automatic

Fat loss that comes from consistent training is healthier, more sustainable, and far more likely to stay off long-term.

MWT Tri Camp has some spots still available, open to anyone. We have interstate and regional athletes heading over for this one and it’s a great tune up before Ironman Cairns in a fun supportive environment.
May 15-17th👇
These camps are a great way to tune up before race day in June or just froth out with a heap of Tri nerds!
Camp details are as follows:
Held in one of South Australia’s prime beach front locations in Wallaroo with crystal clear protected waters, quiet roads with prime beachfront group accomodation.
Friday:
Swim Clinic in Adelaide, then breakfast and depart for Wallaroo (approx 1:45hrs). Check in to accom and then 45m-1hr beach run in afternoon followed by dinner that night.
Saturday is a supported long ride day approx 120km flat ride with TT efforts last 30km followed by a run off the bike, afternoon is open water swim clinic on the beach followed by dinner.
Sunday is game day! Handicapped race sim, (2km/80km/18km)
Cost is $550 which includes full coaching support, accomodation and dinners.
Booking as a group or couple will be discounted.

Amazing effort from huge PB today after a few months of consistent work!
Consistency is the secret weapon in running.

The first 6–8 weeks of training can feel slow… like you’re putting in the work but not seeing the results yet. Runs still feel hard, pace doesn’t seem to move much, and it can be easy to question whether it’s working.

But what’s actually happening is adaptation. Your body is quietly building the foundations — strengthening muscles, improving your aerobic system, and teaching your body to handle the load of regular training.

Then something cool happens.
It clicks.

The same pace starts to feel easier. Your heart rate drops. Distances that once felt tough become your normal run. And suddenly those big jumps in progress start showing up.

Running fitness isn’t instant.
It’s built through consistent weeks stacked together.

Stay patient.
Trust the process.
