Bring your best royal outfit.

Bring your family or a friend.

BBQ will be on and maybe a cosy fire.

Some (very) random prizes to be given away.

Table tennis inside if you're not yet in condition to be on court.

Hi All, we've received some positive news from our landlords at the council - they will keep the courts open under current COVID19 restrictions. This is good news for all of you wanting to exercise safely over the next weeks of Stage 3 restrictions.

SO we will remain open, though under strict Tennis Victoria guidelines for Regional Victoria. Please familiarise yourself with and abide by them.

In summary, from TODAY:

1. Singles tennis is allowed

2. Doubles is allowed ONLY if all players are from the same family

3. We continue with our Play then Leave policy so don't stay back to socialise after your match

4. Maintain social distancing and avoid changing ends during the match

5. Masks are not required when you are playing but must be worn when you arrive on court and on leaving the court

6. No more than 10 people can be on the club grounds at anytime. If you are the 11th to arrive, do not enter until someone leaves

7. Small group coaching is permitted with max two players plus the coach. Marcus will contact all current students directly about this.

We require you to use the bookacourt system so we have a record of who has entered the grounds. Please submit the name of your opponent when you book.

The sanitiser on each court and the front gate is to be used regularly to protect you and your fellow members. We have ample refills.

We wish you all a safe passage through Stage 3 and hope to see you on the courts soon.

Dear Members,

Please find below the most current information (as at 8.00pm on Friday 27th March), relating to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the Woodend Tennis Club.

The latest Tennis Victoria bulletin issued yesterday afternoon has recommended that all Tennis Clubs & Centres across Victoria stop operating at the earliest practical time, so it is with great sadness that the doors of the Woodend Tennis Club are now closed until further notice.

All social and recreational tennis ceased as at 8pm on Friday 27th March.

While we are optimistic that the club will reopen again before long, these are clearly unprecedented times and a situation that continues to evolve on a daily basis. When the community is ready to discuss a return to normal use of non-essential services, we will be part of that dialogue and will keep you updated.

Tennis Victoria have also recommended that all coaching is cancelled including one on one coaching. Marcus and his fantastic team of coaches had already cancelled all lessons earlier this week and we will monitor the situation as it unfolds over the school break.

The entire Committee is grateful for your support over the past fortnight. Tennis is such an integral part of not just our lives, but the lives of the hundreds of players who have come through our club. So while it is with sadness that we press pause on our tennis journey, there will be many more chapters to be written in the Woodend Tennis Club story. I hope the majority of you will still be part of that journey when normality resumes.

We’re looking at online tennis options to keep you entertained during this period of isolation and encourage you all to share your ideas for staying connected and tennis fit on our Facebook group.

In the meantime please stay safe and we look forward to seeing you in the not too distant future.
