🎉🟢⚫️ HAPPY BIRTHDAY KOHNEY ⚫️🟢🎉

A massive birthday shoutout to Mark "Kohney / Kohne Dog" Kohne, with all of us at the MRM Wombats wishing Kohney and his family a fantastic birthday. 🥳🎂
Kohney has been a huge part of Masters football in the Macedon Ranges for many years. From his involvement with the Woodend Masters Committee to being a key member of the Game Day Crew, he's helped make Masters footy what it is today. 👏🏉
A genuine lover of the game, Kohney has also spent plenty of time behind the BBQ for the Woodend-Hesket Hawks, where the debate over the ultimate Hawk Burger continues to rage on. 🍔😆
On the field, Kohney is a teammate's dream. Strong overhead, tough in the contest, and armed with a rocket of a right boot, there's nothing better than seeing him burst out of the defensive fifty and launch the footy well beyond the centre square. 🚀🏉
I imagine it's a pretty similar sight when Kohney has a driver in his hands on the golf course... leaving the rest of us wondering how he does it. ⛳🏌️
Thank you for everything you do for football, the Wombats, and the wider community. We hope you've had an absolute ripper of a birthday and enjoyed celebrating with family, friends, teammates, and fellow Masters tragics.

🍻 MRM WOMBATS 2026 AGM & SOCIAL NIGHT 🍻

It’s time to wrap up the 2026 season, celebrate everything we’ve achieved together, and look ahead to the next chapter for the Macedon Ranges Masters Wombats.

📍 The Vic Hotel, Woodend

Alongside the usual AGM business, including the President’s Report, Financial Statement, Club Awards, the formal spilling of the committee and elections for 2027, this will be a great opportunity to get together, have a few beers and celebrate the people who make the Wombats what they are.

🟢 A special thank you to Jules & Reedy

Our current President Jules has advised that he will not be nominating for re-election for 2027.

Jules has guided the Wombats through the past two years, helping steer the club through plenty of growth, plenty of football and plenty of good times. It’s a great opportunity for us all to say thank you, Jules, for everything you’ve put into the club and for seeing us through the last two seasons. 👏

Our Treasurer Reedy has also advised that he will not be seeking re-election.

Reedy has done a stellar job looking after the club’s finances, putting in countless hours behind the scenes and helping ensure the Wombats have continued to operate strongly and sustainably. Another huge thank you, Reedy, for everything you’ve contributed. 💚

While it’s always a little sad to see people step away from committee roles, it also creates an exciting opportunity for new people, new ideas, and a new leadership team to help take the Wombats forward in 2027.

So come along, put your hand up, have your say, and most importantly, have a beer with your Wombat mates. 🍻

📸🟢⚫️ ROUND 11 | VIC COUNTRY MASTERS ⚫️🟢📸

The MRM Wombats were proud to take on the Maryborough AFL Masters Pumas at the Carisbrook Recreation Reserve on Sunday, 30 August 2026, in another great day of AFL Masters Vic Country football.
A huge thank you to Trav for taking charge of the whistle and umpiring the match. Masters footy doesn't happen without the contribution of volunteers, and we're grateful for your support. 👏🏉
We'd also like to thank Willo and the Maryborough Pumas for the spirit in which the game was played. While we all love a contest, it's the camaraderie, respect, and friendships that make Masters football so special. It was a pleasure to share the field with you all. 🤝🟢⚫️
As always, the memories made on and off the field are what it's all about, and we're lucky to be part of such a fantastic football community.

🐾🟢⚫ MRM WOMBATS: BACK INTO TRAINING ⚫🟢🐾

The celebrations are behind us and it's time to pull on the green and black and get back to work as we prepare for our next challenge.

Join the MRM Wombats tonight, Friday 28 August, from 6:00pm at the Woodend Wombat Burrow (Gilbert Gordon Oval) as we hit the track for another great training session, proudly supported by Macedon Chiropractic.

🏉 Then on Sunday 30 August, the Wombats hit the road to take on the Maryborough Pumas, with the first bounce at 1:00pm.

🚌 Sir Tobes will be driving the Wombat Express, departing the Victoria Hotel Woodend at 10:15am before heading to the Kyneton Showgrounds for additional pickups as the green and black convoy heads north to Puma territory.

Whether you're a seasoned Wombat or thinking about joining the burrow for the first time, we'd love to see you there. Pull on the green and black and be part of a club built on mateship, fun, fitness and community.

A big birthday shoutout to Joel "Billy" Daley, with all of us at the MRM Wombats wishing Billy and his family a fantastic birthday. 🥳🎂
Billy has done a great job juggling his commitments with the mighty Trentham Saints while still pulling on the boots for a few games with the Wombats. Whenever Billy is with us, it's always awesome to have him around the club and out on the field. 🏉🟢⚫️
One thing is certain... Billy loves football. Whether it's playing, talking footy, watching footy, or supporting his mates, his passion for the game is obvious for all to see. That enthusiasm is infectious and makes him a great bloke to have as part of the Wombat family.
We're always pleased when Billy joins us and look forward to seeing plenty more of him in the green and black.
