🏌️‍♂️👑 KING'S BIRTHDAY AMBROSE DELIVERS A ROYAL DAY OF GOLF 👑🏌️‍♂️

Woodend Golf Club was buzzing on Monday as 70 players teed it up for our King's Birthday 2 Person Ambrose. The course was in great condition, the icey weather played its part, and plenty of quality golf was on display throughout the day.

We were delighted to welcome visitors from across the region, including Midlands - Ballarat RSL, Mt Macedon Golf Club, Ballarat Golf Club, Gisborne Golf Club, GSM Golf Club, Future Golf, Mt Derrimut Golf & Community Club, Werribee Park Golf Club, RAAF Williams Laverton Golf Club and Kyneton Golf Club. Thank you all for making the trip and helping create a fantastic atmosphere.

🥇 Wayne Sliwinski & Matthew Payne
A brilliant round of 55.25 saw them claim the King's Birthday crown and top spot on the leaderboard.

A strong performance with 57.5 to secure second place.

Finishing just behind with 59.25 to round out the podium.

Saturday Par at Royal Woodend - and what a day it was on the course! 50 players faced it all — overcast skies, rain showers, a welcome burst of sunshine in the afternoon, and then more rain to finish the day. 🌦️🌧️☀️

Despite the challenging conditions, some excellent scores were recorded.

A Grade
🥇 Grant Davies (Scr) +4 - A standout performance from Grant, who carded an impressive five birdies on his way to the best score of the day.
🥈 Lyam Murray (5) +3

B Grade
🥇 Jai Watt (32) +2 - Visiting from Gisborne Golf Club, Jai made the most of his trip to Woodend, taking out B Grade honours.

Ian Davies Memorial – A Fantastic Day of Golf

What a terrific day we had for the 27th Ian Davies Memorial, with an outstanding field of 90 players taking part to honour one of Woodend Golf Club’s great contributors.

The event continues to be one of the highlights of our golfing calendar, bringing together members, visitors, friends and family.

Congratulations to our winners Tyson Payne (26) and Daniel Payne (1), who combined brilliantly to post a superb 47 points and take out this year’s Ian Davies Memorial title.

It was great to see a father and son combination get the job done, proving that golfing talent and perhaps a bit of competitive spirit runs in the family. Tyson and Daniel were outstanding throughout the day, edging out a strong field to claim the trophy and etch their names into the event’s proud history.

Finishing just one point behind on 46 points were Glenn Wright (7) and Jade Nolan (19), while James Gordon (8) and Adrian Thompson (17) rounded out the podium with 44 points.

A huge thank you to everyone who played, volunteered, helped with the organisation, and supported the day. Events like these are only possible because of the tremendous effort put in by so many people behind the scenes.

Most importantly, the day was a fitting tribute to Ian Davies and the legacy he left at Woodend Golf Club. Seeing 90 players out on the course is a testament to the respect and affection the golfing community continues to hold for him.

We look forward to doing it all again next year.

Midweek Stableford Update-

Another enjoyable week of midweek golf at Woodend.

On Tuesday, Paul Whelan (12) and Fergus Nevin (12) shared the honours with excellent rounds of 39 Stableford points, with Paul taking the win on countback. Mick Keating (8) continued his consistent form with 37 points, while Andrew Davies (1) once again proved that low handicaps and good scores can coexist, posting 36 points.

On Wednesday, Veronica Sullivan (28) led the ladies field with 26 points, finishing one clear of Carol Young (23) on 25 points.
