Today we officially moved all our equipment off St Edmunds College grounds. While it was sad remembering those who have passed on, the great times we have had as a club and the friendships made we can also look forward to what is in the future for us.

We would like to sincerely thank Brothers Leagues Club Ipswich who kindly donated some space for us to utilise while final planning is undertaken and also their support since our club was put on hold.

Please keep an eye out for information on the future of our club and we hope to welcome new and past members back into the water sooner rather than later.

Today we payed our farewells to our Coach, friend and Mentor Simon Smith.

Simon was a pillar of strength to all of us at the Swimming club and loved each and every swimmer that he coached. He was a great source of encouragement and support at CYMS from offering advice or just being there to listen to problems we may have been experiencing. We will all be eternally grateful that Simon was a part of our lives.

While Simon is no longer with us the lessons and advice that he imparted on us will stay with us and give us strength knowing that he believed that each and every one of us could do great things.

Our condolences will always be with Simon’s friends and family during this time.

We will miss you Simon and wish we had more time with you but know that you will be looking down on us giving us strength through the rest of our lives.

RIP
Simon

Vale Simon Smith

It is with a heavy heart that we wish to inform all current and former CYMS members of the passing of our friend, current Vice President, and former Club Coach Simon Smith on Wednesday.

Simon was a huge part of the success that CYMS has had over his time as Club Coach but was more than a coach he was a friend and an unwavering source of support to a lot of people. Simon deeply cared for the wellbeing of all his current and former swimmers whether they were still swimming or moved onto other areas.

From a personal point of view Simon was a great friend and confidante to me and from the moment I stepped in at President his unwavering belief that I was the right person to help move the club forward. I enjoyed the countless hours at Swim Meets and the phone calls to check on the well being of the swimmers or just to catch up and talk about life and how I was going.

Our thoughts are with Simon’s Family, Friends and all those who knew Simon.

He will be sorely missed by us all at CYMS Ipswich Swim Club

In Ancient Greek mythology the phoenix rose from the ashes of its predecessor and was reborn.

While we haven’t been able to swim for a while we have been working hard behind the scenes to hopefully get back in the pool soon. Hopefully within the next few months we will be able to share more news with you all.
