What a performance from our Wonthaggi Club / Glen Alvie Under 15s, booking their spot in the Grand Final with a dominant 108-run win over Inverloch!

After losing the toss and being sent in to bat, the team made the most of the opportunity, posting a commanding 3/213 from 40 overs.

It was a terrific team innings, with partnerships building steadily and strong running between the wickets. Retirements at 50 kept the scoreboard ticking and allowed others to contribute late.

With the ball, the team was outstanding, rolling Inverloch for 105 in 34.3 overs.

Korumburra/Nyora Edge Out Wonthaggi Club in Tight Contest

Match Summary:
In a thrilling two-day Under-15s clash at Nyora Recreation Reserve, Korumburra/Nyora secured a narrow 10-run victory over Wonthaggi Club, successfully chasing 118 in a low-scoring but tense encounter.

Wonthaggi Club’s Innings: 8/117 (38.5 overs)

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Wonthaggi Club built a steady foundation with Jed Caddy (21 off 40) and Blake Ton (23 off 35) leading the scoring. The innings, however, lost momentum as wickets began to fall regularly. Angus Benetti (15 off 32) and Brayden Pentland (12 off 33) provided some middle-order resistance, but the Korumburra/Nyora bowling unit kept things tight.

Captain Evan Belvedere (2/12 off 5 overs) was instrumental in stifling the scoring rate, while Jonah Foster (1/1) and Archie Cronin (1/3) struck in crucial moments. Fielding also played a key role, with two run-outs adding pressure to Wonthaggi’s total.

Extras proved significant, contributing 24 runs, helping Wonthaggi reach 117/8 at the close of their innings.

Korumburra/Nyora’s Innings: 8/127 (36.3 overs)

Chasing a modest 118, Korumburra/Nyora had a shaky start, losing early wickets to Angus Benetti (3/13 off 5 overs) and Ollie Donohue (2/8 off 4 overs). At 4/42, Wonthaggi Club looked in control, but a composed 31 off 40 balls from captain Evan Belvedere anchored the innings.

A crucial 22 from Hudson Jefferis and handy middle-order contributions from Jhai Townley (15) and Flynn Belvedere (12) helped steer Korumburra/Nyora towards victory.

Wonthaggi’s bowlers fought hard, with Cooper Davis (2/14) and Tyler Jeffrey (1/5 off 2.3 overs) nearly swinging the game back in their favour. However, despite the late wickets, Korumburra/Nyora reached the target in the 37th over, finishing at 8/127 to claim a 10-run win.

Match Report: Glen Alvie vs Wonthaggi Club under 15’s

Glen Alvie batted first after Wonthaggi Club elected to bowl in this two-day contest at Glen Alvie Recreation Reserve. Despite an early setback, Archie Moore’s solid 37 (41) and William Simmons’ dynamic 50* (38) anchored the innings. Retirements from Archie Luke (23*) and Axl Moore (7*) added stability, while extras contributed a significant 30 runs. Glen Alvie posted a competitive 182 in 36.5 overs, with Wonthaggi Club’s Chem Jones (2-5) and Harry Piasente (2-11) leading the bowling efforts.

Chasing Glen Alvie’s total of 182, Wonthaggi Club managed a steady 140 from 40 overs. Vice-captain Jed Caddy (27 retired) and Blake Ton (26 retired) provided a solid start, while Ollie Donohue (17*) and Chem Jones (17*) held firm in the lower order. However, Glen Alvie’s disciplined bowling, led by Nate Luff (2/9) and Axl Moore (2/13), kept the scoring under control. Extras once again played a significant role, adding 30 to Wonthaggi’s total.
