𝐂𝐋𝐔𝐁 𝐌𝐈𝐗 𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐒

What a beautiful way to finish off the season at our Club Pairs last Saturday, proudly sponsored by Boekeman Machinery.

We had 8 pairs take to the greens, split into two sections, with some great games played throughout the day before heading into a grand final. It came down to the wire, with 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐞 and 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐞 taking the win by just one shot over 𝐑𝐚𝐲 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐧 and 𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭. A fantastic effort by both teams and such a close finish made it even more exciting.

It really was one of those days where the whole club came together. Plenty of laughs, great support on the sidelines, and a lovely atmosphere all round.

A very special highlight of the day was seeing John Chapman awarded Life Membership. A well deserved honour and a moment that meant a lot to everyone there.

Thank you to all our members for your support throughout the season. Enjoy a well earned break, and we look forward to seeing everyone back in October for the start of another great season of bowls.

𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐦𝐚𝐧, known to many as 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲, and in later years also picking up the nickname “Pothole” from his time working for the Wongan Shire, has been an integral part of our club for many years.

Chappy was always the first to put his hand up for any busy bees, whether it was the ram shed or jobs around the club. His willingness to help never went unnoticed.

He was more than happy to run the bar on Friday nights through the summer, alongside his trusty sidekick Folley, creating a great atmosphere for everyone.

When it came to his bowling, Chappy was a true backhand specialist. A great man to have in your team, not only for his skill but for his enthusiasm and his unmistakable presence on the green.

If you were having a bad day, Chappy had a way of lifting you and getting you back into the game. He was a tremendous team player, and it was always a pleasure to play alongside him.

And if there was ever any mischief happening, you could be sure Chappy was right at the centre of it, with Journo, Hoppy and the Breen boys happily egging him on.

We were so pleased to welcome our wonderful patronesses, 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐲 𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐬 and 𝐁𝐞𝐯 𝐏𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐭, to the club. It was lovely to have them spend time with us, watching a few ends and sharing in the spirit of the day.

A patroness holds a very special place within a club. They are women who have given so much to bowls over the years and continue to support, encourage, and inspire those who follow. Their presence is a reminder of the history, friendships, and dedication that shape our club.

We truly treasure our patronesses and feel so fortunate to have Betty and Bev as part of our bowling family.

The day was filled with great company, a beautiful shared lunch, and a game of scroungers. Congratulations to our winners, Leonie Higgins and Nicole West 👏

Today we held the 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 at the bowling club.

It was a very special day of scroungers, laughter, memories, and coming together to honour a truly beautiful lady who gave so much of her time and heart to bowls.

Betty’s lovely family joined us to watch the games and then shared lunch with us afterwards. They also very kindly presented a trophy for the winner.

Congratulations to 𝐋𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬, who won a stunning scarf the family had brought back from Tasmania. It was such a thoughtful choice. Betty was very arty and crafty, so it felt like the perfect tribute to her.

“𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐞, 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬, 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞, 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞.”

It is something we still say often, and it always brings a smile.

It was simply a beautiful day remembering a wonderful life member and patron who loved her bowls and gave so much to our club and our community.

💨 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲.

Oh my goodness… the wind was absolutely blowing hard and conditions were very tough. It was not an easy day on the greens and every game was a real challenge.

A huge congratulations to our 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐞𝐝 and 𝐋𝐞𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐬 on a fantastic day.
Well done also to the 𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐮𝐩 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐞 and 𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭 after a very hard fought day.

🌸 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 🌸

We had a lovely day at the club today for our 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬, with 𝟔 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 taking to the green and enjoying some great bowls and good company.

A 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐬, 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐅𝐮𝐞𝐥𝐬, 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲. Sponsorship like this helps our club continue to run events like our championships and is greatly appreciated.
