Family Italia Welcome to Family Italia - this is the place to come for everything Italian! Family Italia was founded in the Illawarra (Buongiorno Illawarra).

We started with a desire to bring together those in the community that would like a little piece of Italy right here, instead of having to travel all the way to Italy to get it! The founders of our group are two native Italians, from Forlimpopoli in the region of Emila Romagna; and an Australia family whose grandparents immigrated to Wollongong, with many other Italians in the 1950s, to take up wo

rk at Port Kembla steel works. We are passionate about everything Italian, from the language, food, football and most importantly the Italian way of life. We want to share this love with you. Dear Katrina, Giulia & Andrea,

On behalf of the Parents Committee of Smith Street Children’s Centre, I would like to thank Family Italia for your generosity in support of our 2014 Trivia Night. Your gift voucher prize donation for pasta making classes and the children's playgroup was used as part of our Silent Auction which attracted a lot of attention.

The Trivia Night was a great success and thanks to the support of Family Italia and our wonderful local community we have raised over $3,000 which will go directly toward purchasing updated equipment to improve the educational experience of the children at our centre.

Thank you again for your generous donation.

Announcement - for those of you that do not know, two of our co-founders, Giulia & Andrea, have decided to head home. They will be leaving to return to Italy in a few weeks. We have had a whirlwind of a year, setting up Family Italia. It has been an absolute pleasure having them here and they have made an unforgettable contribution to Family Italia. Thank you Giulia & Andrea xoxox

We have also had another wonderful team member Giulia Fabris who has decided to move on. Giulia's time with us has been short but very sweet, she bought a bit of s***k and a fun personality to the team. Good luck with your future travels Giulia, and thank you for your time with us ###

This leaves Katrina, Monica, Margherita & Roberta for Team Family Italia. Monica & Margherita will continue to run our Sydney activities, and Margherita will also travel down to Wollongong to cover our activities down here with Roberta.
