Blood of my blood đŸ©ž

I’m reading The Ruin Of Magic by Kate Holden - subtitled The Longing And Belonging In Strange Times. Out in the wilderness I’m creating my own belonging these days. It looks nothing like what I was taught to desire, and it is infinitely more nurturing and deeply resonant with my true heart’s desire. It also comes with grief, because of my commitment to truth and healing my red thread. The wounded ways stop with me. I no longer seek solace in false safety. I leave places and containers that perpetuate it.

At our core, our belonging is in our remembering. We are of the world. Women create the world. In our blood, the world breathes, we give it life. As it does in the mothers of all beings. Mother of plants, mother of soil, mother of air, mother of oceans, mother of fire. What a blessed journey to be born a woman, a mother, a life giver. Mothers’ dreaming contains the seeds of all that exists on this planet. We have dreamed it into creation.

The more I honour my blood each month, the deeper the connection to my body grows. As I cleanse it with fire and smoke, I feel the cells of life ripple within my womb, I am honoured, and in doing so I honour all mothers. My belonging to what is real deepens. The strangeness falls away, because this is what is truly real đŸ©ž

If a healing container isn’t safe and trauma-informed, your body won’t open.

Vulnerability is impossible, and deep healing can’t happen.

A trauma-informed container must include:

✹Explicit, ongoing consent (physical boundaries, tracking for non-verbal consent, pressure/consequence is absent)

✹Transparency of process (nothing hidden, vague or ‘mysterious’, client can track their process without hyper vigilance or collapse provoked by ambiguity)

✹Attunement in facilitator-client relationship (facilitator tracks client more than the method)

✹Non-coercive, invitational language (space for clients to be leaders in their own experience)

✹Resourcing and nervous-system regulation are central, not marginal (build internal safety BEFORE activation, client tracks capacity during activation)

✹Relational safety & power awareness (faciltator actively works to reduce hierarchy, not unconsciously reinforce it)

If you’re working 1:1 with someone not doing this, leave.

If you’re in a group container that is not doing this, do this:

🌈 Find safe allies
Have 1–2 steady peers you can reality-check and co-regulate with. Choose people who respect confidentiality, consent and boundaries.

🌈 Name your experience in real time
“I’m getting overwhelmed. I need to slow down.”
“I’m not comfortable with that hug.”
“I need more clarity before continuing.”
“I won’t be doing that.”

🌈 Work within your capacity, not theirs
Give yourself permission not to go where you’re being led. Stay at the edge of activation, not in intensity. Use orienting, self-touch, swaying, breath or stepping away to regulate.

🌈 Create exit pathways before you need them
Decide in advance that you can leave the room, pause, rest, disengage or not participate - without explaining yourself.

And lastly:

“Self-responsibility” goes both ways.

If you’re told to be 100% responsible for yourself while the container itself is unsafe, the facilitator is not doing their job.

That is not your fault.

Trust your nervous system.

You can only open as deeply as your body feels safe, attuned to and respected.

Otherwise, what looks like healing may just be performative or a form of bypass.

I’m reading Shakti Woman by Vicki Noble, and I’m near the end. The chapter on Female Centered Sexuality has been incredible to read, and this post is in response to page 197.

It is so relieving and healing to my soul to have a container to understand more parts of me. Our shamanic lineage as women is such an untapped resource, and the world needs us to plug in now đŸȘ¶

‘The doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door, if you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.’
