Ross Longbottom....Life Membership of Squash Illawarra.
Ross played squash for 20 years at mid to high grades. He owned and managed the Dapto Squash Club for 10 years.
Following that he worked for Wollongong Tafe College Recreation Centre as Manager for 23 years.
During his time at the Tafe Ross rebuilt the squash from a small club to the biggest in the Illawarra. He was the first person responsible for
importing Sydney players to the Illawarra competition. Bringing these players in helped boost the strength of the competition and the Tafe
College Squash Club had the prestige of 5 Premier Div 1 teams during 1995 - 1997 period.
Ross moved to Lakeside in 2012 and has managed the Lakeside Squash Club for the past 6 years.
He also was an organiser for World Squash Day 2012, the first event at Lakeside Leisure Centre.
Currently Lakeside Squash Club operates 10 teams in the Squash Illawarra Competition.
Ross also runs a Monday night social hit a Lakeside and welcomes players of all standards, it's a great way to introduce new people to the
game.
Ross has also been a great ambassador for the game of squash and was the original squash guru with his talent for recruiting new players
to the game and even now at age 72 is still greatly involved in that area.
Squash Illawarra has awarded Life Membership to Ross, a well deserved recognition for his many years of service to Squash in the Illawarra District.

Lakeside Squash Club is proud to have both Phil and Ross recognised for their service, passion and dedication to the game of Squash!
