Attention Upper Lockyer Little Athletics Families!

We wanted to clarify some confusion after a recent email from LAQ.

Today, an automatic message was mistakenly sent out via Sports 80 saying registrations would end in June.

This was an error, and you can disregard it for now— no action is needed at this stage of the season.

LAQ apologises for any confusion caused, and we thank you for your understanding.

Keep an eye on our page for when our registrations open for the 2026/2027 Season.

What a fantastic season for Upper Lockyer Little Athletics Club, with our biggest season yet and more than 100 registered athletes taking part across the year!

A huge thank you to all our parents, helpers and committee members who volunteered their time each week to make the season possible and create such a positive environment for our athletes.

Special thanks to Dean James for his dedicated work as Centre Manager over the past two years, along with the wonderful support of his wife Faye. Your contribution to the club has been greatly appreciated by everyone.

🚨 URGENT – Upper Lockyer Little Athletics Needs a Centre Manager 🚨

Time is running out for Upper Lockyer Little Athletics Club to secure a Centre Manager for the 2026/2027 season, and at this stage we have received no nominations.

Without someone stepping into this role, the club will not be able to operate for the season starting in September. That means no Wednesday afternoon athletics and no opportunity for our local kids to participate in competitions through Upper Lockyer Little Athletics.

This role is vital, but you will not be doing it alone. Former Centre Manager Dean James will continue to support the club and assist with the transition, and our committee is committed to helping share the workload and support the successful running of the season.

We are also reminding the community that you do not need to currently have a child registered at the club to take on this role. If you are organised, community-minded, and passionate about helping local sport continue, we would love to hear from you.

At this point, we genuinely need our community to step up if we want to keep this club running for our children.

Upper Lockyer Little Athletics Club is looking ahead to the 2026/2027 season (September–March), and we urgently need to fill the important role of Centre Manager.

Without someone stepping into this position, the club will unfortunately be unable to operate next season.

If you’ve ever thought about getting more involved in the community, this is a great opportunity to make a real difference for local kids and families. You won’t be on your own — former Centre Manager Dean James will still be part of the club and is more than happy to help with the transition, and our committee will support you every step of the way.

👉 You don’t need to currently have a child registered at the club — we welcome anyone from the community who is keen to get involved.

🏅 National Stage Success for Upper Lockyer! 🏅

A huge congratulations to our two incredible Under 12 athletes, Slater Walsh and Lacey James, for proudly representing Queensland at the 2026 Coles Australian Little Athletics Championships today 🇦🇺

Slater delivered an outstanding performance, taking home 🥇 GOLD in the U12 Boys Discus and setting a new Meet Record with a massive 41.30m throw! What an incredible achievement!

Lacey embraced the opportunity of competing on the national stage, giving it her all in a highly competitive field and finishing an impressive 13th in Australia in the U12 Girls 800m. A fantastic effort!

We are so proud of both athletes for their hard work, dedication, and for representing our club and Queensland with such pride 👏❤️💛

A huge thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who stepped up this season to help run events, fill roles, and keep our club running smoothly – we truly couldn’t do it without you 👏

We’d also like to thank the parents who have nominated for positions on the committee for the 2026–27 season. Your support and willingness to get involved is what keeps our club strong and thriving.

As we look ahead to next season, we are still seeking someone to take on the important role of Centre Manager. Unfortunately, without filling this position, the club will not be able to operate next season.

What an incredible achievement for our club! ❤️💛

A huge congratulations to Lacey James (U12 Girls) and Slater Walsh (U12 Boys) on their selection in the 2026 Little Athletics Queensland State Team. This is a fantastic honour and a true reflection of your hard work, determination and commitment throughout the season.

We believe this may be the first time in Upper Lockyer Little Athletics Club history that two athletes have been selected in the same State Team – an amazing milestone for our club! 👏

Lacey and Slater will join 104 talented athletes from across Queensland to compete at the Australian Little Athletics Championships, held in Brisbane at QSAC on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 April. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

We are so proud of you both and can’t wait to cheer you on as you take on the national stage! ❤️💛

UPPER LOCKYER LITTLE ATHLETICS CLUB – SEASON BREAK UP 🎉

Join us this Wednesday as we wrap up a fantastic 2025/2026 season!

We’ll kick things off with our Annual General Meeting, followed by our Awards Presentation and a Pizza Party 🍕

Our presentation afternoon is a special time to come together and celebrate all the amazing achievements of our athletes this season!

Important reminders:
👕 Athletes, please wear your *full club uniform* (for photos)
🏅 If you won medals at State Relays or State Championships, please bring them along for a group photo
🪑 BYO chairs or picnic rugs (some drinks will be supplied)

What an incredible weekend for Upper Lockyer at the Little Athletics Queensland State Championships! ❤️💛

A huge congratulations to our 19 athletes who competed across three big days of competition. There were so many personal bests, strong performances, and unforgettable moments – including some of our athletes getting the chance to meet Olympian Sally Pearson! 🌟
