Vale Russell Smith.
It is with deep sympathy that we inform the members of SSAA Taree Wingham Branch, of the passing of our dear friend and fellow member Russell Smith.
Russell has been part of our branch since 1997 and during that time he contributed a great deal of time to building this complex to what we now enjoy. He was a club person through and through, nothing was a trouble to him and he never had a bad word about anyone. He was always there first and usually last to leave. We the current members have him to thank for many of the facilities we now take for granted. Many of you may not know his name, but remember him as the obliging guy in the cowboy hat. Russell for many years was our official groundsman. There was never a blade of grass on the range that Russ hadn’t mown at some stage, and if he missed it, he would come back to finish it off.
He was proud of his work and the club can never thank him enough.
He served many roles within the club during his time with us, and was always willing to contribute his time and knowledge to anyone new to our sport.
We will all miss his friendship, and pass on to his family our love and best wishes.
