Good Evening Everyone,
We are a small business located on the outskirts of Scone in the Hunter Valley. Although the business is rather new, I have lived here for 13ish years and have seen, many times, the strength and support horse communities will provide when faced with adversity.
I grew up in Lismore and have been overwhelmed by the devastation of the flood disaster. My immediate family still resides on properties in the area and were extremely fortunate to be high enough to avoid any loss of stock/homes/life.
There are many people and horses who have not been so lucky. 😥
The reports of horses (and other stock) that have been washed away, washed up, still missing or found in various and strange locations is endless. Most horses that survive are found with lacerations and other injuries and will often end up with secondary complications.
The Northern Rivers is lucky to be the home of some incredible vets who are attending to any horses they can reach, with one even being able to get to some locations via helicopter.
I know it seems frequent these days but I am asking if anyone is interested in donating supplies?
🐴🐎🐎Any studs, clinics or horse people who can spare veterinary or first aid supplies (obviously over the counter categories). Vet wrap, elastoplast combine etc. 🐎🐎
I will be travelling from Scone to Lismore (via Armidale-Grafton if/when the road is open) and will give the supplies to a local clinic and or owners that need supplies for ongoing treatments.
I am happy to stop along the way if you are somewhere on that route.
I understand that many of us are still recovering from the events of the last few years so please look after yourselves 🙏
If anyone wanted to help by contacting owners and carers directly please look at ‘Flood displaced livestock - Northern Rivers.’ Fb page # # # # WARNING SOME OF THE IMAGES ARE DISTRESSING # # # # #
