We wanted to create a name without any mention of a disability. Everyone is able to do something no matter what their age or ability.
Everyone is on the autistic spectrum to a greater or lessor degree. Aspergers Syndrome for instance affects one in a hundred people, many have it without realising it.
We will never judge players background or their disability. As long as they enjoy playing the sport of badminton, have fun, get fit and have a laugh, they are all welcome to play at our inclusive club.
Over the years we’ve already had a number of pupils from Calne’s Springfield School play with us, embedded within our existing sessions. We’ve also been approached by Wiltshire Council to offer a route for independent living and providing a safe and welcoming activity for those who want some independence from their parents, with learning difficulties or special needs.
All players with a disability qualify for discounted concessionary membership and reduced rates irrespective of age. For those players who struggle to pay a reduced amount we are sympathetic to their requests and will accommodate them at our own expense so they can continue to play.
